I happened to be on my phone when the notification email pinged through so was literally on the site as soon as sales opened. I was curious.
Items were already 'sold out'. Shenanigans. I can't be arsed with that kind of nonsense.

So I went out to Walmart today (several pf them), hunting for the Toxitron series, and I found exactly one Playmates Classic Enterprise, with a clearance sticker on it, marked down to $30 (regularly $40).
Thought "Well, I doubt I'll find better. Or again." Took it to the register, happy for the ten buck discount, and it rang up as $15! Add to that other Walmarts, I ended up with $200 worth of legos clearanced for $100 total.
Unusually great day for clearances!

And no US release. Meh. I don't need any more TOS and TNG Enterprises, as there are a million of them.
What would have excited me is if Corgi had decided to make them in scale.

Ooft. Yeah, I was expecting small toys that'd just be a couple of quid, not... that. I think I'm good. And aye, an actual scale line would be brilliant. And ruinous.

I remember Corgi stuff being cheap and cheerful! Times have changed.
These are just too expensive for what they are.

Saw the Playmobil Enterprise at 60% off in TK Maxx this morning. Still can’t really justify that, but was tempted for a second or so!

I was going to say that that was a good deal, but then I remembered what the original asking price was. I'd be tempted at 85% off...

Found a good condition Playmates 1992 Captain Picard s5 jacket figure for 50p in charity shop, hiding among a pile of Batmen. Nice find.

They're starting an entirely new size. They're starting an entirely new style. And intentionally omitting the main characters.
There is no "mistake that everyone makes" because aside from Playmate's disastrous attempt to restart, and Super 7's super rare Ultimates, there s been no Star Trek action figures since the original playmates toyline died! Playmates, who were trying to make toys that looked almost identical to their original run, could have conceivably taken this approach (which I also think would have been a bad idea, given how long ago it was since trek toys were on the shelf).
No, it's literally the starships that have this problem. Whenever someone new gets the license, they remake all the hero ships and major alien ships that everyone already has a dozen times over. But no, I've never heard anyone lamenting "Oh man, they're starting with *another* Sisko?" because there is no complete set of captains in matching lines!
I understand the desire to express "we're interested in the deep cuts, too," but the deepest cuts only become interesting with the main characters. No one wants Wedge before Luke. This has given them the problem they sought to avoid. Why would I collect all these guys, some I can't even remember even with explanation, if I worry this line will die before they even start the bridge crews because it's full of characters who can't stand alone? The only main character is a variant of Archer in wave 2. Yay. What's next for Wave 3? A Fist Full of Datas Worf? Is Take Me Out to the Holosuite Bashir in wave 4? Genesis Planet Spock wave 5?
No. If they want to show us they're not just about the bridge crews, then give us two major characters, one minor or variant, and one deep cut per wave. TOS Spock Captain's Jacket Picard Rachel Garret Jadzia Dax
I mean, pick and choose. I just threw these out based on how I think a wave of four could be built to show future intentions.

It maybe would have worked better if these were the same scale as existing Trek figures, to complement something already out there, and not a new one

Thats mad, I assumed, mostly because of the line up these were compatible with an older line, in terms of scale at least.

On a completely unrelated side note. I'm shocked that no one has EVER made the figure stands that come with the figures be the transporter pad circles.
More on topic, while I despise Hasbro becoming a disney level powerhouse monopoly that owns everything, I do wish they had picked up the Trek license. I feel like they could back it in a way that maybe only Mattel could match. Trek figures that could look like the same line as Star Wars and Ghostbusters figures. Haslab Bridge sets. Good balance between major and minor characters.

Thats mad, I assumed, mostly because of the line up these were compatible with an older line, in terms of scale at least. Likewise. Maybe they're going to stockpile all of these figures for themselves so that when the line takes off later with the main characters they can charge huge aftermarket prices for these..? On the plus side, the new company taking on the starships line from where Eaglemoss left off aren't redoing the Original and the D all over again. And their ships are I think compatible. Not that it matters much to me - they're still too expensive for what they are. Which is a shame, since I could have been tempted by an F...

They are either only doing Eaglemoss' XL line and then introducing an even bigger and more expensive size Or they are charging the same price for the small shit that Eaglemoss charged for their XL line, and then charging even more for the XLs. I'm seriously unsure which. Either way, I'm out. Nof that anyone's carrying them. BBTS put up preorders for their Stargate line and haven't been able to fill a single one.

I looked at the new ship line. I think they look very nice but the price points are a turn-off so I will pass on thrm. I wish the line well though. I'm just not the market for them.
