This weekend was most surreal. Clear blue skies and not a single vapour trail!

Another normal day at work. As I walked into the factory this morning I was serenaded by the radio with the second of the two played daily songs. The next few hours went by without any of the regular songs being played before - da-dum - the same song that was played this morning was played again and then half an hour later THAT SONG was also played.
We had a few new starters today also and one of them played the usual trick of saying they didn't feel well and they went home at dinnertime. Curiously he was about the fifth new starter in the past month or two who 'didn't feel well' and had to go home at dinnertime. No doubt I won't see him again which could either be one of two things: he genuinely is ill and his illness will now plague him for the rest of his working life or he was faking the whole illness thing because he didn't want to work.

I've had some volcanic dust on my car! I'm sure of it!
Counting down to a local beer festival on Friday! Barf Barf!
Gotta exalt Tomo for that thread title!

I had to wait at the train station in Alderley Edge this morning to collect someone.
There were too young women, clearly displaying the WAG stereotype, discussing the current airspace ban.
The one with the pink-dyed fringe insisted that the politicians should put a ban on all active volcanoes to stop this happening again.
It took all my willpower to not push her onto the tracks.

Second and last day off.
Morning has been spent lettering Mosaics for Matt and pages of Ed's awesomeness for CT. Quick trip to the Post Office to send out Scotcon mag/headmasters and Dawn of the Dread Force to G.
Break for lunch and some Mythbusters before some drawing and a run this evening. Next race is a 10k the day before we travel for Swincon.

Bad times at Burns Towers, for various reasons I'm not getting into on a forum. I will likely not be about online as much in the next while.

Let Susie out the back to do her business and encountered a couple of hedgehogs in the garden. Managed to get a few pics of our visitors. These are the two best. Andy

Oh and don't worry. Susie doesn't eat or bite them, she is just curious about them.

As documented elsewhere, I'm home. Any channelling directed to me and mine I ask to be redirected to Ralph, who sounds like he needs it. The Daily Mash has provided its usual reliable journalistic perspective on the recent travel issues of folks like myself. I would totally have done this. Even if it ended like this.-Nick

Man I hope things start looking up for you Ralph, 2010 isn't going your way so far. I am anxiously counting down the days till the Boss comes back into town to move the lab to new digs. Haven't made progress on the job search front yet either. But! The daffodils are all out in flower:

Excellent Hedgehog pictures there Andy. They are lovely little animals and I can see why Suzie is fascinated by them. Sadly I don't tend to see them here - the Rabbit and Fox mafias have got the territory divided up between them I'm afraid.

Hedgegogs can turn into spikey balls of doom and roll over their enemies!!!
Currently eating left over sausage sandwich! Hmmm. Very good CSI last night.

Lack of work has forced me to have tomorrow off. I'm still waiting for my boxed Nintendo 64 to come that I brought on Ebay on Sunday. If it comes tomorrow I think I'll settle down to a lengthy retro session featuring some of the best games the console had to offer like Super Mario 64, both Zelda games, Mario Kart 64 (one of the best kart racing games of all time), both Banjo Kazooie games and last but not least the all time classic shooter Goldeneye.*
*Obviously I won't be playing all of those games in one sitting but maybe over a number of sitting over the next few weeks.

Just had a splendid karate trainment. Only couple of us do it together these days, became too complicated (understandibly) and time consuming to run a proper club. My little 5 year old neice came for the first time. At the end of the class I was using her as a human torpeedo to attack her father (my brother). She was just the right weight: not too heavy to lift and swing about, but heavy enough to cause damage! I think I've invented a new martial art! What's 'child weapon' in Japanese?

KODOMO BUKI!
I'm the first Black Belt in Kodomo Buki! Come! Grab a child, perferably between the ages for 3 and a half and 5 and a half, and learn the deadly art of Kodomo Buki! It truely is a source of spiritual enlightenment!

I am super-grumpy today.
I'm wearing a portable ECG thingy, with four electrodes stuck to my torso (and very itchy skin where the nurse had to shave my chest) connected to a box that records my heart activity strapped across my waist. I have to wear it all the time until Tuesday. I had no sleep last night, hence my general grumpiness today! Oh, and I can't shower either! P. U.
In happier news, I've just declared a spontaneous four-day week next week so every one at work is very happy.

That sounds most unpleasant, but best to focus on the positives. I think for the duration of the device wearing you can say you are a cyborg!
