Clicking on that link at the end of a long day Makes me think for the first time that it may turn out OK. OR I clicked on the link, I must admit And am questioning my assumption that Thor's bound to turn out sh*t. But argh! It's in 3D I fear! Will Ralph boycott it without shedding a tear? Martin

The armour works on Thor - but why does Odin need it. Also Loki is normally seen wearing fabric so he is able to trick people & get on their side by seeming not threatening - you can't really do that when you turn up in armour.

Looks very much like ceremonial armour to me, rather than functional.
Also it looks cool!

The guardian has just won so many bonus points with me. It has put up an article claiming Masters of the Universe is a better film than the new Thor, because Thor doesn't have any lasergun fights on flying skateboards www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog/2010/dec/15/thor-masters-of-the-universeIt's a bit unfair, MOTU would probably beat any film head-on apart from Flash Gordon

Kevin Nash as 'Thor' Snr might... work... He was at least good as Super Shredder for 30 seconds. Oh, and The Russian too Aside from that, I am looking forward to the real movie. I marked out when I saw the hammer at the end of Iron Man 2! ===KEN

Is Thor best seen in 3D?
I didn't particularly want to see it in 3D, but it's showing almost entirely in that format at the local cinema; there's a 2D screening tomorrow afternoon then both weekend mornings then it's entirely 3D next week.

I saw it in 3D and I have to say It didnt detract from the film but I also think it didnt really add much.. Some scenes were good (I liked The rainbow road room thingy) It also makes it all a bit dull tbh and for me that does spoil some scenes..
So basically I dont think it matters! It is a pretty good film though and I'm no Comicbook fanboy (never read a thor comic in my life).

I thought the 3d was pretty poor to be honest, slightly better than Clash of the Titans but nowhere near Avatar class and nowhere near the class of the 3d Red Bull advert during the trailers, several times I lifted the glasses to check the screen and there wasn't even any 3d present.

Given that people have to pay more to see a film in 3D, are there any advertising standards that film-makers must comply with - e.g. in terms of percentage of screen time truly in 3D - before they can legally market a movie as being in 3D? I doubt it, and in any case it's not the law that you have to pay extra, that's the cinema's choice. Would be nice to see some standards of broadcast brought it in, though, but I think it's more likely that cinemas will get complaints about paying extra for very little. I noticed during the trailers for Thor that Captain America is going to be in 3d, we're months away but I can't see how that needs to be in 3d at all.

IIRC it was filmed in 2D then post-converted, so I don't think you'll lose/gain anything by watching it in the format of choice. -Ralph
