I always figured his cash flow came, initially, from hiring out his great army of mercenaries and space-scum on alternate weekends when he wasn't using it (and later from shrewd investments in the economies of various reliable space empires - Thanos does have genius intellect after all).

Interesting stuff. The more we look at it the more fascinating Europa seems to grow. It is little more than a footnote in my astronomy textbook (the only University textbook I still own), but is seems like it has really started to open up to us since then.
