While waiting on a bus in Glasgow this evening I took a phone call from the Hub's own Andy Turnbull. He asked if I had a moment and that he had someone who wanted to speak with me. After a few scuffles and muffled noises the conversation went thusly:
Me: Hello?
American Accent: Hello? Hi...It's Derrick J Wyatt here
Me: No fucking way...
Wyatt: Um...haha...yes...
Me: Oh my God man, seriously?
Wyatt: Yes, um...Andy said you couldn't make it but would like to speak with me?
Me: Oh totally...*mind draws a blank*
Wyatt: So, you got any questions you'd like to ask
Me: Man, I am...I'm, dumbstruck - Just...I love your work man, it's incredible...
Wyatt: Well thanks a lot man, glad to hear it
Me: Ah...um...aaaahhhh
Wyatt: I'll hand you back now
Me: Guuuh.
At this point Andy came back and I proceeded to garble unintelligibly at him in thanks.
Always good to seem like a total jackass in front of one of your artistic heroes eh? Still, so happy. Turnbull is a new hero.

Hahahaha that's awesome! Nice one on Andy for doing that, but I'd be the exact same. A million questions come to mind, but not one comes to tongue.

I know, as soon as he left I was all "CAN YOU DRAW SKY BYTE FOR ME?"
It just goes to show that in a high pressure situation, I've got no juice. Haha.

Awww, what a nice surprise that must have been.
I'm seeing a whole new, kinder, side to Andy this weekend. It worries me.

What have you done Turnbull? Oh god I'm in (war) world of pain today. Just remembered the whole feeding the ducks/stabbing the cat discussion (while biting my fist)

Okay, I've just read on Twitter that someone had their knob out last night. Who was it?

Apparently the Chunder Monkey started with a couple on the training course in London, had a few on the train up and topped it off with a couple last night. I've not seen the video evidence that Ralph took but he was hee-hawed and did not look a well man this am.

I nipped out for some dinner Friday night at a very nice restraunt in B's China Town. On the way back I heard fire engine sirens and thought "that better not be going to the hotel". Sure enough ..... the entire convention was emptied out onto the street c7pm Friday night. The cause is thought to be someone smoking where they shouldn't have been.

I was out at lunch as well then - what a drama and more than one person was doing it as saw quite senior hotel staff inspecting rooms and finding lots of cigs in toilets. Plus one bed had to be taken out of room completely to be fumigated. I hope this does not ruin chances of stying there next time.

The fire alarm in Marks room had been completely encased in what appeared to be toilet paper.
On a Derrick J Wyatt related note, he spent quite a bit of time at Toy Fu in the mornings during set up and besides joining us all in the joy of the 1992 mountain range spent a lot of money. Some of it on my Tako Tank and Ikard, for the man that gave us so much Animated goodness it seemed a perfect fit.

I was amazed how many people had no idea what it was. Some people seemed quite freaked out by it.
In fairness those blue orbs are quite unsettling.

I just thought someone pulled the fire alarm for some reason or something
I hope that if it was an AA attendee smoking, that they haven't ruined it for the rest of us <.<

I fear the worst - coming down from Ralphs room on the Sunday I saw various official looking hotel staff in suits tut tuting at cig buts in lots of toilet. I asked if this was common and she said LOTS of people had been smoking in there rooms. Bloke in lift with me from different floor mentioned they took a whole bed out of a room after the person checked out to fumigate it....

Hi gang – this is the official report in after AA Got back late last night and just been trying to move today. Pure joy overload and now body feels like I have run a marathon...not that I know what that feels like ANYWAY – short story – it was just what the doctor ordered. Met lots of new friends, put faces to people I have spoken to on-line. Made a fool of myself with more than one person by being too over excited at the event. Got a little too sweaty at times (DAMN THIS WEIGHT) but it was all good Great nights drinking all round. Loved the guests, the entertainment. Loved the ego boost when people said they liked my singing...we were all drunk so not sure it counts Spent WAYYY over my budget but great buys and great people on the stands Talked to Grufflock and now found I have a new podcast to listen to on my phone – GRIN Talked about classic console games with SG1 err and talked about anything with everyone who would listen Had a little sing off with a bloke with an AMZING voice who then had a sore one when it came to the karaoke and denied EVERYONE a super song – pout Listened to many people sing Ground Zero...then get confused and sing Transformers and swear at each others – I suggested they sing TransforZero – to which it was decided that made it sound like some weird song about transsexuals Got a little worried when one guy told me he once punched someone for queue jumping when someone walked through the line we were both in
Great chats with everyone – sooo sorry did not say goodbye as much as I could. To the many people I met – virtual hugs and real ones to follow when we next meet
In some ways can be summed up by a few quotes and memories
Gary Chalk - “ There are some great looking girls out there..” Bazz - “Its a KILT!!”
Man in Megatron costume walking down corridor – asks female companion - “can you pull my trousers up please?”
Me, Gruff and Timey discovering the Rape Chicken mode for Beast Wars 2 Galvatron...Grimmy - you want a new member for your Skystalker group?
Me legging it to bar to grab Sorenson to sing with my mate Chris, I wait at door and say “Mr Sorenson..its the Karo....” only for him to stop mid conversation, leap straight out of his chair and bound pass me quicker than the Flash..he REALLY wanted to sing Evo
Being dragged into the room of the woman who was dressed as Wheeljack to be asked if the Grimlock suit was better – I told her flat YES!! - then being told a story about its construction that had me in stitches - it involves a pair of pants and a staple gun and just a little blood
Hearing about the rumoured japes of Chalk and McNeil around Brum on Saturday night...and a possible reason McNeil was a little late down to the room – if true the man is just so rock and roll
damn – so much more to say – will add things as I remember them
Anyway – looking forward to next year now...

Stabbing the cat and feeding the ducks
The audio is a bit warbly due to busy bar, but you can get the gist and so sometime tomorrow you will see the legend that is John Cullen at AA 2010...

I'm loving the Cullen story where he asks Simon Furman what he's working on, Furman says something with superheroes and John then replies 'Superman?'. When Furman says no, John turns away...

I totally missed the fire alarm situation. I must have been back at my hotel when it happened and only found about it via photos and videos this morning!
