Hurray! Animated Prowl was a figure I had intended to procure again (it really is super) in better times but now I'll just get the version with the side car! Hurray!

Prowl: a motorbike and sidecar with a transformation to a good robot. I demand a Bulletbike repaint! I too feel that terrible urge pulling at me now. Incidentally, I found a Bulletbike I did not know I had in a box when packing up last week. He was buried beneath the Action Masters, along with G2 Powermaster Ironhide. Obviously, my mind had wiped the knowledge from me to protect me. Now I must have the other G2 Powermasters! Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick! -Ralph

The AllSpark are linking to higher quality images of the Animated combiners here and here. It's an interesting idea but the figure leaves a lot to be desired. I would have preferred a Rack 'n' Ruin or Double Header figure that suggested two characters that are mutually dependent on one another for life. On a different note (and without wanting to be territorial), would this thread be better placed in Toy Sightings? If I recall the description provided when the forum was set up, Toys and Merchandise is intended for discussion of existing toys rather than new figures.

No. Sightings is for what toys you see in the shops that are out. New toys are definitely under the remit here.

Fair enough. I thought that the new pictures were a type of pre-release sighting, though I'm happy to follow your judgment.

They look a step above those Starscream Armada Jumpstarters from a while back.

Teehee. The Autobots are wearing nappies.
I like the Megatron best. (Does anyone else get a bit of a Tankor vibe off him?)

I was selling at a collectors fair yesterday. A boy and his Dad were looking at my row of Transformers when the boy pointed at Animated Oil Slick in the front and said "That's not even a Transformer."

Youngsters these days!
I recall browsing in TRU Govan when Hasbro had their re-issues out. A young child picked up a re-issue 'G1' Prime and with great patience and deliberation explained to his dad that this was: "Optimus Prime from the olden days."
I felt 6 million years old.

To be fair, if the kid is going on what he's seen in the shows, then well, to him maybe Oil Slick isn't a Transformer per sae. The universe to him is what's in the show, as opposed to what toys Hasbro/Takara produce under the brand.
Actionmasters on the other hand... They don't transform, so to me THEY ARE NOTHING!!!!

What I'm not sure is, a) whether he was saying Oil Slick himself wasn't a Transformer, b) whether he didn't recognise Oil Slick as a toy capable of transforming, c) whether he didn't recognise Transformers Animated as being a Transformers line (the others I had on display being movie toys).
On face value, it seemed to be "a", but I can't be sure.
Edit: My post crossed over with Stomski's and I think his suggestion could perhaps come under "a".

Does Oil Slick have a rubsign? If not, he's not a genuine Transformer. This much I know.

True.
This is why rubsigns are the best feature of Transformer toys!

Battle Beasts had rubsigns too and I guess because of that episode of Headmasters you're right...

I assume the Oilslick was packaged right? If so the big giveaway was there that he is a Transformer. The Animated logo is quite large on the cards.

I've seen kids do it - one who was wandering around FP:E with Armada Prime a few years back declaiming "Daaa. Want this Powah Ranger". He was sufficiently young that it looked more like a Prime box with feet walking around the shop....
I've also seen parents try to dissuade their son, who had his heart set on a movie Prime, telling him " Do you 'no want a propah Powah Rangah". His response was a "No! I wanna Transformah!"
It isn't that surprising really. Lets face it to a lot of parents the only place they have ever encountered transformable mecha is the Saban shows, so it is a natural reaction. I don't hold it against them anymore than I would hold against my colleagues the occasional "Is that one of those Transformers" about the little Legioss that guards my in-tray at work.

Lets face it to a lot of parents the only place they have ever encountered transformable mecha is the Saban shows... I disagree. Most parents of school age (action figure age) children are about our age, so they would probably know Transformers from their own childhood. That said, in areas of high teenage pregnancy, Power Rangers are likely to be the predominant robot. Tee hee, which reminds me, there was a woman who embarrassed her daughter on Sunday when she saw my Wonder Woman items and started singing the TV theme tune.

As much as I appreciate it, for the amount of new molding work involved, I would rather have a new character than a nigh-identical version of an existing one!

I finally gotten around to opening Animated Shockwave today and was in for a nasty surprise. The lower legs were both snapped off . It would appear the plastic on the figure is quite brittle. I dare not check out the rest of it. If anyone else has heard a simular tale about this toy I'd like to know about it. Not happy and really disapointed as this toy looks amazing and probably is. Pics up later possibly.
