The space lurgy that came on during the day took full force during the night. Legs like sticks of piss so I shall miss the Pope passing by. Darn it.

I did pop out for some much needed fresh air and apparently the Pope had just passed and was in a green dome having a kip according to police chappy.
Not that big a crowd, surprisingly.
Back to couch piloting until the lurgy leaves me.

Back. WEYMOUTH was good, but the legs weren't up to going out much so I didn't get my planned trip to Monkey World. However we did drive to Portland which needs to be seen to be believed, preferably from the top where you can see from miles. ( An Example) Weymouth's got great train accesability: I can easliy walk from station to sea front on a bad day. And from there it's a bus trip to the topof Portland. So will br going back again by public transport. But the biggest news this week is.....

I was feeling a bit better later on so hobbled up to Morningside to see what was going. There was a good atmosphere. Not mobbed, but decent sized crowd. The Pope in his limo and his gang zoomed past very quickly on the way to the airport. If someone hadn't shouted: "There he is!" I wouldn't have known which car he was in. Glimpsed him waving for about a second at most. I felt strangely excited, which surprised me. Perhaps it's the ex-Catholic in me, I have no idea.
Then I started sneezing again and went home.

Everybody at work got a text message from the job agency today which we all perceived as a threat to work seven days a week. Most of us can't because we have things already planned (like my trip up to Ironbridge on Sunday) and we told them this. Anyway, here is the text we received.
'Hello, work both days this weekend. Please let us know today, which days can you do for us (ideally both days). Please text or call Marek* or myself. If you sign up for weekend, we will check attendance and in case of no shows we will be finishing some staff (6 people already lost their jobs). Many thanks Lidia*.'
* These are the names of the people in charge of the agency.

Piglet has enjoyed looking at one or two of my Transformers of late. She was looking at the Terrorcons yesterday and today. She calls them 'the rescue team'. Rippersnapper has proved to be her favorite, he's a water rescuer named him 'Swim-Tim'. Sinnertwin is a rock-climber called 'Rescue-Mite'. Cutthroat is flying rescue called 'Fly-Mite' (Mite?). And Blot is the strong one for lifting things, and Piglet, without any prompting from me, called Blot, wait for it, ROGER!!!!! Hun-Garr didn't feature much, but apparently he's a fire rescuer using his sheild to protect from fire. Bless.
She hasn't seen Abominus yet!

I'm just back from Jordan. Despite my best efforts I couldn't get to Mass because the chap in the hotel in Madabah sent me to the wrong church at the wrong time- by the time I got to the Catholic one the Mass was over. My last chance till I get home in November. Got a lot of work to prepare for Sunday and have to meet with my group to discuss how to set some of it up. Fun fun. Ralph, I'm sorry to hear you're still going through the wringer and that I can't do anything to help from here. Ken, glad to hear something's still RULING for you. Shockprowl, likewise. Sorry I'll be missing the Papal visit. If nothing else it sounds like it'll be interesting. I don't know if the reaction of the British public is going to open any eyes or minds at the Vatican, but you never know. The Church is in a right state at the moment and I honestly don't think the current administration has what it takes to even begin to repair the damage. I just hope none of the chaps in the Pope's entourage gets shown the Daily Mash while they're over here. -Nick

It's hypnotic!
Best bit was the kid in Wimbledon who had been been blessed by the Pope who clearly didn't give a toss. Other highlights have been folk talking about the end of civilisation and Blair and Brown having a chinwag.

One of my colleagues, who had been the least interested, or positive about, the Papal visit ended up regularly checking on the live footage streamed on the BBC news website on Thursday of the Edinburgh visit. It was amusing - she was like a "mission control", like Section One's Berkoff or someone from CTU or something, glued to a screen providing regular updates.
I have spent some of today pottering around the house and reading some old Judge Dredd stories - courtesy of my library being quite good at getting in the phone books.
Chopper for Super Surf 10!
*ahem*
Wandered out for a walk in the woods this afternoon, which was rather enjoyable. This evening has been about losing a fight with disintegrating Pitta bread. Note to self, frozen Pitta bread does not survive the thawing process well.

Day 4 of seasonal lurgy. Went to bed shortly after 9pm last night, got up mid-day today, still feel like shit. Ah well, I'd rather get seasonal lurgy now than at New Year which is usually when I catch it. Nowt can be done but rest up and drink lots of fluids.
Damn, Pope TV has shut down!

Day one of seasonal lurgy, nothing to bad so far. Spent about 12 hours drawing a comic yesterday. Why I choose Armada to draw I don' know but I am realy enjoying it. And as a bonus I'm learning photoshop which is one of the programs on my list so it serves a useful purpose.

Lurgy has developed into a minor flu today. Mostly sleeping, light being painful, etc. Thrilling stuff.
Had been due to go through to Andu Land for the weekend but I ran out of energy very quickly. Walked out front door, and was knackered before I got to the end of the street so came straight back!

Get well soon, ill folks.
Hello Sportsfans!
Piglet was asking about the Planets today whilst we waited for Mrs Shockprowl to get Fish&Chips for lunch. Try explaining what an AU is to a four year old! She decided that people should indeed go to the planets, and said that the rockets needed to go to both the Sun and the gas planets should be called "Salty Branches" (?!?!?!?!!!!). And the rockets needed to go to other planets are just simply called "Rockets". Salty Branches? WTH?
I've had to call in sick at work, unfortunately. Pulled a muscle in my back. Well, more of my hip/back area. Not quite the rump, bit higher than that. I feel like an old man. Think I did it last weekend at work lifting a patient, and then aggravated it yesterday stripping wallpaper. Tad annoying, 'cos the count-down to 'The Time of Rough Men in Leather Shorts' continues in earnest, and I've got loadsa mother-freakin' stuff to do! Mrs Shockprowl's good at rubbing in Deep Heat though. Every cloud 'n' all that.

Ian: Try getting a copy of the BBC series The Planets. You'll enjoy it if Piglet doesn't.
We're watching last night's New Tricks. I see that Brian Lane and Ralph Burns are of a similar mind as regards libraries.

The only seasonal lurgy I've had recently went away after about five days starting from Thursday the before last. My colds are not as bad as they used to be when my terrible immune system gave me at least one cold every month or two. Fortunately, I don't have any illness at this current moment which I'm glad of because I'm off to Ironbridge tomorrow with my father and brother for the day.

Had a day of it with ASDA Home Delivery today. 6 Hours late and items missing. After phoning up the store to find out what's going on (rather than complaining) I ended up getting my delivery charge + missing goods refunded and a £20 eVoucher as compensation.
I don't drink, but I tried out Crabbies Alchoholic Ginger Beer today and liked it!
