Lot of work trouble these past few weeks. In a bid to save money they've opted not to replace the various people who've left for better things. Actually there has been one new starter, but the number of employees has been steadily falling this year and it has got to the point where there really isn't enough people.
In addition to moaning about the remaining staff not doing a good enough job, they've also redefined their definition of "flexible working hours". Originally this meant your hours could be fit around any other commitments - they even put this on a poster explaining how great they supposedly are. They've now decided it means we must work when we're needed.
So far there hasn't been any change to my hours and it doesn't really effect me as everything else I do can be moved around. It's troublesome for other people though due to college/uni courses or kids. Speaking of kids, we're an additional person down at the moment as someone is on maternity leave. Another girl is also expecting and has said she will not be returning. Many others will leave as soon as they find something else. I'm also looking.

What about- Week 41: And the Rough Men in Leather Shorts!
Mine have started today in earnest! Although once again there is a disapointing lack of roughness and leather shorts. I've told them to try harder tomorrow on that front.

It's wait-by-the-phone time again. What especially worries me is that if offered the job they would want an additional reference from the place I left 3 years ago but I don't think anyone I knew who could write one works there anymore.

Panic over. Got a hold of my direct line manager who is still there so can get a decent ref if I am offered the job. Phew. I was tense.

One worker at my workplace was sent home this morning due to them being 'over staffed' (a term which can usually be translated as 'your not Polish so we don't want you anymore!'). The worker in question was annoyed that he has been there for over six months working hard only to be sent home in favour of a load of Polish workers who can't speak much English and only started last week.

I can relate - didn't get out of work till after midnight and still had lettering to do on The Daily Straxus. Now a little bit wired, but not enough to do more drawing.
Bah!

Had a poor night sleep yesterday, better last night, but still tired. Have to stay awake (or don't have much choice) as the kitchen roof is being replaced. That will leave just the electrical changes, the ceiling, painting and the final kitchen install. All to be done in the next 2 weeks. Doesn't feel like I'll get much done with all that going on.
Trying to get into course work I need to get through by the new year, but found another adaptor is needed to get the Mac set up for it so thats another little delay to go along with many others.

I had a dream last night that was entirely in comic book format as if I was reading the dream, then at one point I couldn't make sense of it so went back and an entire section had been added so it made sense. At that point I knew I was dreaming and completely forgot the story. Andy
