It's proposed we once again rendezvous in the fine town of Swindon, only this time to incorporate a trip out into the Wiltshire countryside by bus to visit the fine Village of Aldbourne where in 1971 etc .... as well as the Loft of Joy, Liz's cooking and other fun.
But when would be a good time for us to set this trip in the diary.....
This year we met the first weekend in May.
But Transformation 2011 is 16th April, are our Scotish contingent coming down for that?

Best just a pick a random time. I can't really say when I'll be free until I have a job but if the date is fixed I could request annual leave days when I start.
If Apr I would prioritise Swincom over anything else.

If I were to go to Swincon I wouldn't mind going on a jaunt to the nearby(ish) Avebury. I thoroughly enjoyed going on a field trip there when at high school circa 1990 and I reccommend it to anyone who also likes field trips and visiting historical sites.

Yeah, Avebury is well worth doing.

I haven't decided about Transformation at this stage. My convention thinking is mostly focussed on Auto Assembly. But if it happened to be in the same general epistopic interface of the continumn my priority would also be Swincon II I would say.
After all, fun, good company, and a field trip back into the files of the Intelligence Task Force is hard to beat.
I can probably negotiate time off relatively easily I would think so I would say pick a date that is suitable for yourself and Liz and I for one will be quite happy to work around your good selves.

Just occured to me though that the flat lease is up mid-May and I will almost certainly be moving so May is not ideal for me.

I might see if I can turn up for this one. I said I was going to go to the last one but ended up going cold on the idea at the last minute. If you confirm a set date then I will try and make more of an effort than what I did last time.

So..... dates.
I've marked the weekends with known events. Entries with a * by them are english bank holidays. As yet I don't know Liz's teaching schedule.

Sooooooooooooooo, time to start working a date, chaps. Sadly, with Transformation 2011 now cancelled this may allow for more flexibility.

There's a decent (one right in the town centre where Martin stayed last year. It's a short bus ride away from me. I don't think it was too expensive either.
I'll go and recee the Cloven Hoof (or whatever it's actually called) and see what their grub is like.
Or we could kick off in the Pizza restruant and then take ourselves off to Aldbourne before returning to the Death Fortress for a slap up feed.

Are there any hotels close by, Phil? Holiday Inn close to the main railway station, as it so happens. Had a pleasant stay there last year and would stay there again. If Scots are flying to Cardiff, stopover accommodation is available here as per usual. Martin

We shall bear your kind offer in mind. I shall see what I can do about getting tacit approval for leave (can't formally book it till February when the leave year starts) this week and then I'm sure the Scots lads will put our heads together and strategise about our travel plans.

I will probably be able to get the Friday/Monday off. Can't actually book it yet as our leave year begins in February, for reasons best known to no-one, but I don't think it will be too much of a problem. Scots Contingent deliberations will be held and we shall work out a plan of incredible cunningness.

I'm afraid I will give this a miss.
Just looking at how expensive AA is going to be, and going to that will zap my budget.
