So, can someone Scottish please confirm that I am OK to book a room at the Swindon central Holiday Inn for Friday and Saturday, i.e. that no-one will be expecting my hospitality in Cardiff on those days?
Let me know if a bed in Cardiff is required by anyone on any other nights. Always welcome.
If I'm invited for grub at the DF, I'll admit to not being a fan of garlic.
Thankee!

Liz and I have been talking food today. Friday Night: either Beef in Beer with Dumplings & Mash OR Home Made Lasagne & Garlic Bread (state thy preferance) . Very kind to be offered a choice! I favour the lasagne, please. -Ralph

Banana and Eggs remain an issue for myself. More the eggs than the bananananananan (yeah, I can spell banana, it is just remembering where it stops that is the problem). As to the two meal options I am quite happy to demure from a choice because I would happily eat either so I can be counted as voting with whichever suits the majority.

Martin At this stage I would say that this is a pretty fair assumption. At this moment I think that we are looking at coming down on the Friday to Cardiff and heading straight up to Swindon, so I think you are fine to book a hotel for the Friday and Saturday. Karl

You're not quite Scottish, Karl, but your word is good enough for me. I have booked Friday 15 April and Saturday 16 April at the Holiday Inn, Bridge Street (same place as last time). Martin

Right, the Scots contingent are now booked on a flight that gets us wheels down at Cardiff airport at 3:35pm on the Friday. Further research in due course will pinpoint a likely time of arrival in Swindon but, as the Cybermen would say "Ph-ase One Compleeeeete"

I am down in Surrey all of that week, so I can also be fairly flexible - it is just a case of letting my family know which day I am going to be otherwise occupied.

Turn & Burn need to be in London and are staying in Cardiff. How are they getting there?
If it's train then you're probably limited to the earliest train from, Cardiff you can get cheap tickets for. That means the 9:25 which means you won't be in the smoke till 11:30 if everything runs to plan (£11.50 each way if you book in advance at trainline.com <which you should do and soon> & come back before 4:00 or after 7:30). You'll need time to get across London after that, a buffer for transport difficulties and possibly by then Lunch......
Another option is Coach/Bus. I have no details to hand for that but you're looking at a longer travel time.

Turn & Burn need to be in London and are staying in Cardiff. Bit confused myself. Swindon is half way from Cardiff to London. And I haven't spotted any requests for berths here yet (though I wouldn't take offence if McV Manor were spurned, given my lack of cooking and tendency to stay in hotels at TMUK meets myself these days). I feel that we have yet to get the full picture of what's going on. Feels a bit like Graham's Timecode saga in that regard... Need explanatory plot exposition dump! Martin

Turn and Burn plan to use Cardiff as their staging ground the following week. Yes, I got that much, but it's a bit imprecise as to time and place. BTW, watch out when in Cardiff. We can make our own laws at will now at the drop of a hat. Edit: For example, I've just decided that it's against the law to drop hats. Punishable by tar and feathers. Martin

The Scots boys fly down to Cardiff on Friday Arriving 3.35They make their way to Swindon in the company of or separately to Martin. Liz picks them up and we convene here for food and we had talked about The Moonbase for Friday night, plus some Transformers cartoonage. Then as per reply 41The plan centers round the day of the 16th and is this we will have a lesuirely start to the day at Phil's DFiS collecting up any stragglers at Swindon station c11:30. We will procede to the pizza restraunt and stuff our faces. After that the proposal is to move back to the town, get a bus to Aldbourne at 14:30* (I'm assuming you don't need to ask why!) where we will set up camp in the Blue Boar, have some drinks, do the usual stuff we do in pubs, get our photos taken at the church before returning to the DFiS for a slap up feed and that night's The Daemons. And more TF cartoons. * I'm led to believe we can get a bus pass that will cover us for all the journeys in Swindon and out to Aldbourne. Research will be undertaken as will a trip to the Boar. I'll be at church Sunday AM but there's no reason why those who stay shouldn't rifle through the longboxes and Loft of Joy. We'll fetch Pizza on the way home from Church, relax for the afternoon with toys and cartoons and stuff before dispersing people in all directions.

Thanks, Phil, but I understood all that. Just confused about what happens subsequently. It sounds like everyone is splitting into parallel universe doppelgangers and shooting off in opposing directions, going all fuzzy as to precise positions in time and space. And Doctor Who has something to do with it. Martin

Andy & Ralph are intending to stay in Cardiff
At some point they want to visit the Doctor Who Experience in London, and it's the details of that we're trying to iron out.

Turn and Burn plan to head off later in Sunday to spend a week deployed in Cardiff and from there shooting off to various locations including London for a day which will include visiting the Doctor Who Experience. They have yet to sort out more than that.
If Chez McV has space on Sunday night that would be splendid, but if not that is fine with us.
Confusion ended.

It sounds like everyone is splitting into parallel universe doppelgangers and shooting off in opposing directions, going all fuzzy as to precise positions in time and space. Yep, that'd be the upgraded Active Stealth Systems that we are testing. There are some problems with them interfering with the transponders in Safe Mode. The reps from Shinsei Industries assure me that the most recent fix should help with that..... If it helps any, I can definitely say that I will not be returning Cardiff-wards but will be meeting up with folks in London for the Doctor Who Experience. Karl
