Phil's Space 1999 BDs are here.
Boy is Jonathan going to be disapointed when he hears the music.....

I think it is Ralph's duty to ease Jonathan into Space 1999, by inserting Eagles into his Stardub videos. Then perhaps announce he is moving to the moon, and perhaps get Barbara Bains in as a co-host?

Do you have Eagles, UFO Interceptors or X-Bombers stationed at your moonbase?

I do not. Never been fussed about them. Really should pick up s1 at some point but I've only ever seen it for silly money. As for s2....I never need to own that!

Ploughed my way through the special features last night. There's a nice long docmentary looking at most (17 out of 24) of the episodes in the series with contributions from writers, zennia merton, Gerry and others. Unfortunately two of my faves - Earthbound & Death's Other Dominion - miss out .
Time to get going with the episodes. Since there's no new DW DVD till Jan this is an idealtime for this to show up. I did a full watch through when I bought the DVD set ten years ago, which I hear is now resident in the Scottish Capital with the good Doctor.
Looking forward especially to Another Time, Another Place and Dragon's Domain in addition to the above two.
I had an Eagle Transporter when I was little (complete with green nose & landing gear mounts - Dinky at the same time produced a blue Thunderbird Two). I always wanted an Eagle Freighter wit the winch and radioactive material barrels.

watched the second episode* on the BD set today Matter of Life & Death but it didn't do it for me.
* may not be the 2nd episode on the dvd set - there are varying running orders for the episodes.

Watched Breakaway this evening. Haven't seen the show since the BBC 2 broadcasts in the real year 1999. Still good stuff.

Ring Around The Moon: a bit rubbish.
Watching Earthbound, the second episode featuring Roy Dotrice. In real life he's the father of Michelle Dotrice (Betty Spencer) who was married to the late, great Edward Woodward.
I'll say no more as the ending to Earthbound is superb....

Simmons is a huge arse in Earthbound. But what an ending!

Back many, many years ago I was on the space1999.net mailing list I recall a Polish chap who would not stop banging on about how RING AROUND THE MOON was the most meaningful thing ever made. What a hoot.
I once wrote a terrible Space:1999 fanfic which is probably on the web somewhere. It was arse.

Another Time, Another Place is superb. Scared the living daylights out of the 8/9/10 year old me when I saw it in the early 80s - the bit where Koenig & Carter are on the Eagle.
Missing Link on at the mo, but it looks bobbins.

It's episode 2 on the Carlton DVD's. Watched it with dinner. Hmmm, Koenig is a bit thick in that one. -Ralph

This thread is making me want to rewatch Season One again (no force in the universe can make me want to rewatch season two), which I haven't seen since it aired on a digital channel back whilst I still had Freeview reception.
I remember quite liking Season One and its cast, and then finding my interest dropping sharply as Season Two started.

Thank you kindly, that would be most appreciated.
Karl (Still remembers his passenger Eagle toy being one of his favourite die-cast toys when he was a kid, until all the main drive engines fell off, the verniers snapped and the framework parted company with the spaceframe...... What can I say, Eagle's are tough but it got a lot of wear over the years).

Indeed. It turns out it is free-to-watch online (legally) as part of my DVD rental contract.
I shall be commencing an episode-by-episode watch through of the first season in the near future and sharing my thoughts.
