Crikey. It is hard to find info about this 'The Child' figure online are there seem to be so many different types. Er. I think this is the 6.5 inch chunky brick of death one.

That does look impressively detailed for a brick. The eyes are good.

The eyes are what makes it and the detail are great. It could have been like one of the crappy big washing up type bottles done for TF and Marvel but some acre has went into it. A good brick.

I've added a Snowspeeder to my Echo Base display. It's massive. I have a real hankering for action figures with vehicles at the moment, so that and my growing interest in Black Series collided. Hasbro have really got my attention with Black Series now. These new figures from the last couple of years, first with the improved painting method that gives much more accurate likenesses in the faces, and also with the new style shoulder joints and massively improved articulation have put them on a level that I think allows them to compete with more expensive stuff like Figuarts given they're a third of the price and have a much wider selection of characters. I looked at Black Series when it started because I had a friend who was mad about them. I tried to get excited at the time, but they just weren't quite good enough, but I think I'm hooked now.
I'm definitely only interested in original trilogy stuff, but what was originally going to be a small display based around Leia & Vader on the corvette at the start of A New Hope has grown a bit. I cannot resist Hoth stuff because that was where Star Wars really started for me - I don't think I had much knowledge of the original film until then, despite the fact Dad says he took me to see it. Probably a repeat screening prior to Empire.

What displays have you got on the go, Pins? A few: Corvette/Star Destroyer from the opening of Star Wars: Ep4 Vader, Tarkin, Death Star Trooper, Stormtrooper x2, Leia, Rebel Fleet Trooper (this one needs another Fleet Trooper) Tattooine Desert: Luke & Landspeeder, Ben Kenobi, C3P0, x2 Jawas (this one needs R2 and a Tusken Raider) Echo Base:Leia, Han, Imperial Probe Droid, Hoth Rebel Trooper, Snowspeeder & Dak, General Veers (this one needs Luke in speeder gear and a couple of Snowtroopers, plus the forthcoming Wampa and probably the Ep5 version of Vader) Dagobah:Luke with backpack, Yoda, R2 (just because the figures are all in the right deco for that scene and they're really nice) The only thing I'd do with those is maybe expand the Tattooine scene with an appropriate Han/Chewbacca and some of the Sandtroopers with the Dewback. Then it'd be a Mos Eisely scene. I'd like the Tauntaun for the Hoth Han too, but that's silly money because it's really old now. There's loads of Bespin figures out but they don't excite a much as Hoth does. I will probably add an Endor scene to those and that'll be enough - the upcoming set with Luke & Leia in their Endor speeder bike gear is really nice. If they did a Snowspeeder for Empire's 40th then I can but hope when it's RotJ's turn they do an AT-ST.

Woaw woaw WOAW!
Are... are these.... THE SIX INCHERS?!?!

|
Post by Pinwig on Aug 10, 2020 20:43:36 GMT
Yes. The downside of that is that they don't quite hit the nostalgia vibe of the originals and the vehicle/playset options are limited, but the upside is that they look fantastic and for small, focused displays they give a lot of detail.

That. IS HARDCORE.
My Jabba's Palace vs Imperial Garrison collection is puny 3.75"...!

But you've got scope to add to that in ways the six inch line can't, like adding the skiff. No playsets at six inches, just a couple of vehicles.

Not enough. When I talk about displays I mean potentially one day I might get these on a shelf somewhere. At the moment I've just got boxes everywhere because there's no where for them to go.

I am moving house soon but the spare room there is smaller than here and needs to work as a study room for OU (can't use academic libraries due to access scheme being suspended by COVID) so I will need to think of creative storage solutions. I...I...might have to go to Ikea.
