Which Classics/Generations toy has been the biggest improvement over the original?
I think Starscream and the rest of the Strike Planes have been the biggest improvements.
The original planes, I've always thought, were pretty poor. Too many pieces to remove/add during transformation was my biggest issue with them.
The Classics version solves all the problems the original Strike Planes had and then some!

Aside from Hound, I'd say the Strike Planes too.

I dunno... Compare classics Prime to the original. Alright, missing a trailer and roller, but way more posable and you can't lose his fists.

Tricky, the strike planes I agree are a vast improvement in many many departments, but Hound to improves massively. The original is one of the brickiest bricks in Transformers history and then the part that does move are his tiny tiny little arms. Also Hound comes with Ravage which itself could be a contender for biggest improvement.
Primes great but while you can't lose the fists you can lose the smokestacks and roof..

Well, no because they have places in both modes, where do you store the fists in your G1 Prime? In the cockpit? That's always bugged me as I can see them through the windows taunting me.

They still go missing and once missing one of the modes is spoiled, I prefer figures that don't have any core parts of either mode that are detachable. Andy

I dunno... Compare classics Prime to the original. Alright, missing a trailer and roller, but way more posable and you can't lose his fists. The articulation on Classics Prime isn't the huge step up that it is for the jets as G1 Prime is already pretty well articulated. Classics Prime is more an alternate version of G1 Prime. For it to be a proper upgraded version it needs to be a square cabbed truck.

Yah, good point, for the time G1 Prime was ahead of the curve articulation wise.
Classics Mirage looks great in robot mode... His sleekness works really well and looks really dynamic. Makes the original look so blocky.

Yes, I'd agree with the point about the Strike Planes.
My biggest improvement is a more generalised one. Articulation. So much more fun to play with the Classics figs than their G1 counterparts. Classics are more cartoony, more comicy, and more everything! Super G1! My dream come true.

Alright, missing a trailer and roller No, not alright. 90% of the joy of the original Optimus Prime was the trailer headquarters. Martin

No love for Classics Bumblebee? Bumblebee doesn't feel like an improvement so much as a reinvention (along with Prime, Megatron Astrotrain and Grimlock amongst others). If it had a different head and was called Goldbug it would hands down be the biggest improvment of the line. Andy

Bumblebee is, for me at least, close enough in terms of design.

Original Prime's trailer was mind blowing to me at the time, that a lorry could unfold into an alien robot base! In fact, I don't think that trailer has ever been improved upon, in terms of a very realistic vehicle mode becoming a base/battle station.

I've always liked Actionmaster Primes base I think because it was the only non MM base that offered a defesible position, buI I just now realised for the first time just how crazy large his lorry was. It would dwarf anything else on the roads, Even if NASA happened to be moving a rocket on the same road.

Hrm... OK, I whole heartedly retract my previous statement about Prime!
I was thinking about the minibots, Powerglide and Seaspray have now had radical size class changes so the updates don't really embody the feeling of the original toy.
There is one that stands out though, Legends Warpath.

Which is superb. Especially after you take a knife to the robot's chest and fix the turret.

The visual of Prime driving down the interstate taking up four lanes while honking his horn to clear the road is glorious and quite terrifying. Megatrons tank is just terrifying.

He flips a coin towards the coin payment funnel thing and when it lands it flattens the whole booth.

I've always liked Actionmaster Primes base I think because it was the only non MM base that offered a defesible position, What I liked (liked? I must do it again some time!) to do with the original Prime's trailer was only open up one side of it, so the Mini Autobots had a solid wall and roof at their back when defending the low wall of the open side. The tower could still be erected by virtue of the square hole in the roof of the trailer, and Brawn or Outback could sit on high atop the dual missile launchers (with the cover open). Happy days!
