Yeah, okay. I appreciate why that's highly regarded but it didn't really float my boat. Does that mean I have to hand my hub membership card in?

Statler and Waldorf are actually how I visualize any meeting between Turn and Burn going. We're more like Jack and Victor from Still Game. We know that is our future. -Ralph This is correct. Andy

Best christmas soundtrack ever. The soundtrack has two bonus songs on it. A beaker and thingy one and sam the eagle has one too. If you are watching the extended vhs/tvbroadcast version with when love is gone you also get to see possibly thw best bit of acting Micheal Caine has ever done. Its stunning when he breaks down at the end of the song. And yet disney refuse to release that version on bluray, or even widescren dvd. Imbeciles. It is a fabulous performance all round from Michael Caine!

I don't think that C4 actually have any choice in the matter do they? Isn't it an issue of the TV rights to a song? In which case the law likely doesn't leave them much lee-way. I certainly didn't let it interfere with my enjoyment of the film. It's Dickens, and Muppets. That's a team-up that is never going to disappoint me.

You know what to do folks! If you mean ignore the Channel 4 showing, because its the terrible version* and bang on your imported (and out of production) 20th Anniversary DVD (or laserdisc/VHS), then yes, yes I know what to do. *not C4s fault, thats on Disney not making the remastered widescreen good version available despite Henson completing it a few years ago.

Rewatching MCC on what I believe is the 25th annivasary of the first time I saw it.
Why the date has stuck in my head I have no idea and it maybe entirely wrong, but on investigation it does seem like it would have been the most likely date. So yay memory.
Only managed to see it I think 5 times this Christmas. Must do better, though I listened to the soundtrack a fair bit too which makes up for a bit.

I saw it at the cinema in December 91. The date is fixed in my mind due to some stuff that happened around then the significance of which only became relevent later. :-(

Phew! Panic over.
I used the last ebay discount code to buy a brand new oldstock copy of Christmas Carol with the extended cut as I noticed mine was getting a bit scratched up. So I was unhappy to find a diffrent cover to the the one on the auction when I opened it. Thankfully it was the 2012 release, which has an identical disc to the 2005 release that I was expecting. It just doesnt bother to advertise the extended cut on the packaging.
Happy now.

Yeah the VHS version with the song.
My obsession with the proper version of the film has now led me to looking at Laser disc players as thats the only way to get a widescreen version of it.
But they are very very expensive.

I imagine they'll make a big deal about it. Well as big a deal as they can about a by then 29 year old film as a Disney+ exclusive next Christmas and then maybe get a 30th Annivarsary DVD/BD/4k release the year after. Or it will all happen in 2022.
