In the last couple of weeks I have had both an acquisition and an operational loss.
The acquisition was a the red Aoshima Legioss toy - completing my collection of Legii/Alpha Fighters by giving me Hoquet's mecha to go with the blue and green Legii and the Tread that I already had. I had passed on it repeatedly because it was about £70 on import and it isn't enough of an improvement over the Toynami release to justify it (it is an improvement - slightly better materials and a much more primary-colours cartoony paint job compared to the matt "realistic" look of the Toynami one).
Unfortunately it's arrival was marked by the operational loss of one of my Valkyries. My red-and-white 1/100th VF-1J took a dive off the CD shelf and - thanks to the cheap and nasty plastic Toynami made it from - the joint for the tail section sheared through on impact with the ground. I have gathered up the parts for future analysis in case some work can return to to service, but I am not entirely hopeful and suspect that we might have to write-off the mecha complety.

I I could connive a way to achieve high enough temperatures I was considering a Viking funeral. I think it is what Miriya would want for her mecha when it was no longer serviceable. Karl |

Always wondered where the Legios name came from. ^^
Recentley bagged some KO Lego, but not that Click Bricks stuff I mentioned in the other thread. This was another £1 deal, but a very cool Police vehicle driven by a red baret.
Also bought some Superhero Squad stuff for sending to Romania. I have started Christmas boxes for another organisation that isn't Operation Christmas Child or as restricted on 'war toys'.

Always wondered where the Legios name came from. ^^ Wanted an aircraft-mecha handle, and it wasn't as obvious as picking from as high-profile a franchise as Macross - so it seemed to make sense to take it from Mospeada. Karl |

Karl - look at it as a golden opportunity to get the Bandai 1/100 VF-1J :-) Mine should be arriving within 3 weeks :-) No new aqusitions as of yet - although a couple of Gundams and Valkyrie are on their way... but... Just need to pay the Customs man, and I'll have some new lovelies to show off shortly! Amongst other things:
1/100 VF-19S Blazer from Emerald Force and the 1/100 VF-1J Hikaru - both from Bandai.
Might have a few other things in there as well :-)

In the same box as Red Alert, I got some Power Rangers minis as well as the 2010 remake toy of the Green Ranger Dragon Dagger.
The Dagger is well cool as it can be played like a flute as in the TV show, but the downside is that the official Dragonzord calling song isn't one of the sound effects (it is replaced by a rearranged soundalike). To top it off, the dagger has a really awesome hidden lightsaber gimmick that kind of gives it its own charm.

I've just got on order of the 1st wave of Power Rangers: Samurai (Mega Mode). These should coming my way from the states soon
I also have acquired Clone Wars Count Dooku as a sparring partner for Yoda.
Also gained some more Lego series 3 toys. No swaps so far.

Said Power Rangers: Samurai have arrived and they are surprisingly much better in the plastic than pictured. I hope Bandai do a wave without the Mega-mode gimmick too.
I have higher hopes for the Thundercats line now.

Forgot why I came in here- I bought a Mega Bloks Halo Wars set yesterday. It was in TRU:Jeddah. A bit more expensive than in Scotland but it can't be helped. Hyper Panda (Middle-East-Asda) has a big selection too, including the massive UNSC Pelican. I hope I can find the Covenant Ghost- it was the only set I've been interested in that they didn't have. They had the other one from that case assortment, though. I'll bide my time. -Nick |
