Not an easy question for someone else to answer, although the availability of actual figures does limit you somewhat unless you turn to eBay, or I think some of last year's B&M sets are still around on Amazon.
You narrow it down a bit and we'll give you options. Are you thinking classic or new series?

4 and 5 were my Doctors, from when I was a kid. But I really liked 3 when Blue' sent me all those fabulous DVDs. I also really enjoyed The Three Doctors. In modern times I only really watched Tennant, who was good, but I've been really taken with Capaldi (what's he, 12?), and that mini-episode with 8 was has always stuck in my mind. 8 should have more screen time.

Hmm. I don't think there's a cheap way to do what you want because none of those have figures out at the moment. Capaldi's sculpts were not very good and his TARDIS isn't easy to come by. I think your best bet is to check eBay for loose figures, pick something that takes your fancy.

I need to decide Who is my Doctor. Decisions like that are difficult - if you had to pick one doctor, who would it be... I think in most cases it would be the one you started with, but each one is different and their stories bring their own unique features to the whole. I could pick any of them and champion them as the one Doctor, then tomorrow be all about someone else. |

My local B&M was mentioned by name as having TARDIS sets in stock 4pm this afternoon so I couldn't resist going to look - half seven all gone.
Did get an Earthshock set, but the three figure packs don't seem to have been an issue this year.
Anyone spots a first doctor TARDIS or Dalek sets 6 and 8, I'm very much in need!

Tried again tonight. Now the shelf tickets have gone and we're back to just Marinus & Sensorites round my way.

Going by the last few waves, the three packs will no doubt reappear after their first run, but TARDIS and Dalek sets are not worth gambling on finding a second time. Buy on sight.

The Conjunx checked the Shawlands B&M yesterday, which was predictably useless (it's usually not great). I'm hoping to get up to the Castlemagic store tomorrow, weather allowing.

Alas, hope has forsaken these lands. The Castlemilk B&M has let us down - just the Marinus/Sensorite 2-packs, and the Dalek Wobblers... and shelf labels for the Dalek 2-packs - I fear I was just too late. But they may indeed come around again, so I'll keep my eyes open. Although I doubt I'll be back again this side of Christmas now...

This was supposed to be out in time for Christmas. Great way to get the BAF figure from the original retail wave. If anyone ever sees it in a shop. Trying to collect this line is just bloody annoying now. All B&M are doing is fuelling scalpers.

Mission failure. I could see at least one Dalek set I was after but impossible to get into the toy aisles properly due to the very large numbers of unmasked twats. Abandoned quest and legged it!

Really fed up making detours on the way home now in the vain hope I can find a B&M with anything from this wave. Only got the Earthshock set so far. I'm going to end up paying eBay prices, I can see it.

I keep telling myself to be patient because the three figure packs usually reappear after the initial stock; there were still Voord in shops near me last week. But I also know the Dalek sets never reappear after the initial drop round here.
The bigger b&m near me has had no toy aisles for the last week, they're rearranging after Christmas and the one aisle left with toys is almost bare. I'm hoping they're about to restock. Just wasting time checking it 2-3 times a week.
