I've seen on the Twitters that the Raston Warrior Robot sets have appeared in at least one B&M, so the hunt may well begin anew. I'll probably not make it to myself before the weekend, so remind me what it is that people may be after...

At present: History of the Daleks 6: Evil of the Daleks History of the Daleks 8: Planet of the Daleks First Doctor and TARDIS set The three figure sets I'm confident will reappear as they always have done, the above, not so sure. There is also the Giant Robot & Tom set due 'mid January' which will get scalped to fuck when it arrives. That, we are told, has paint revisions to both characters to make them more screen accurate than the previous versions.

Alas still not sighted any of these sets. Shelves are full of Voord, Sensorites and wobbling Daleks, and that seems to be it. Although I did also see a few 5th Doctor with Cyberman Android sets today. But nothing exciting.

Boo!
The android set is *quite* exciting; it is one of the new ones and isn't always around. It does seem to be the most common though.

First B&M trip since late November. They had a handful of Earthshock and Five Doctors sets (some with black Cyber-handles, some regular variety*). I opted for a black Cyber handle pack and an Earthshock pack.
No 1st Doc with Tardis, Tom and Robot or Daleks #6 or #8.
My heart leapt when I saw some Daleks but they were just 3 of the #5 set.
Several dozen reduced Marinus and Sensorite sets.
-Ralph
*If the sets get reduced than an all silver Cyber Handle will be procured.

Apparently the K1 set is starting to appear.
So, y'know. Prepare for disappointment when you can't find any because some wanker's bought them all to put on eBay.
Bitter? No, no. Course not.

Had a real thrill of the hunt moment tonight - found some Giant Robot sets in B&M. Neat set of twelve on the shelf, innocent and unscalped. I bought a spare in case anyone needs one down the line, but going by the GB sightings thread this seems to be K1 weekend across the country.

Blimey. I'd read there was a new figure announcement in the offing on GB but wasn't expecting that! That's bloody amazing! And not sold out!

It's very exciting. CO's own exclusives seem to have growing amounts of new moulding in them, moreso than the B&M figures. I get that this set is made cheaper because it's the same figure three times, but there's a new head, feet, the chest piece wraparound - it's practically a new figure, you'd never know this was the old Sea Devil dressed up. Compare that to the minimal new moulding for the Voord and Sensorites.
I think this probably means B&M will have 70s Silurians this year. The first CO exclusive made use of the Daleks B&M had that year with some new bits, the Abominable Snowmen set was the previous B&M TARDIS set with a new coat for the Doctor - take the chest wrap off these new Silurians and give them a new head and you've got the 70s ones. It'd be nice to have the 80s Sea Devils too, but that would need a lot of new moulding to do the helmets/shoulders and skirts.

I may tap you for that K-1 if my search continues to be fruitless. I've given up trying to find the 1st Doctor TARDIS and History of the Daleks #6 and #8. Never seen them in store. By contrast, ordering the Silurian set off of Character's site was quick and painless. -Ralph

No prob. Spare K1 on standby. I must admit watching the supply of First Doctor TARDIS sets begin to dry up on eBay caused me to panic so I ended up paying silly money for one last week. I got the History 8 set too as that seems to be rising in price. I just need the Five Docs and History 6 now.
It's a horrible way to collect. There's no joy in it.

I'd start checking for the TARDIS if you're going that route as they're not common now. Dalek History 8 is also creeping up but if you catch the right auction you can still get them for around 40.
It's frustrating to think there aren't restocks of these coming. I really don't get why if the line is exclusive to B&M that they don't actually stock the figures. I mean, I know scalpers are a problem - but why produce so many of the Sensorites & Voord sets that they reach clearance prices, but only do enough of the Dalek and TARDIS sets to just about manage one delivery to most, but by no means all, of their shops. The biggest B&M round here had one shipment of TARDIS sets that lasted in the shop about three hours. Does that not make them realise that if they had more, they would sell more? It didn't get the Daleks at all.
They're happy to have all manner of tat like those damn bobble daleks sit on shelves for months, but when will they realise the stuff that sells instantly might make them more money if they ordered more in from Character.

Had a look at the recent 1st Doctor TARDIS sets. RRP £20. I don't mind a mark up but BIN's of £100-£130? Get bent.
I think I'll just need to give up on that one!

It will probably reappear at some point because of the remoulding in it. Variant of some sort. They usually come in twos.

The Silurians have arrived!
Wasn't expecting them so quickly. I do like the way Character do an announcement and offer the toy for sale when they actually have it ready to ship. Boom. We only knew these existed a week ago. If only they could do the B&M ones like this.

I would have paid up to double (£40) for the new B&M one but not three figures!!! I have now snagged History of Daleks #6 and #8 from Ebay as the prices were going up. I am trying to collect all the History of the Daleks set, but it is very frustrating! -Ralph

We only knew these existed a week ago. If only they could do the B&M ones like this. Indeed. It's so much less 'stressful' for a retailer to say: "New exclusive thing! You can buy it now and get it in a few days!". None of the now-standard collector fare of: "New exclusive thing! You can buy it now and wait for an indeterminate number of months*!" -Ralph *Or in the case of Super 7: several years.

I hope so. I would have paid up to double (£40) for the new B&M one but not three figures!!! I'd say it's a certainty. Since B&M started doing TARDIS sets there have been eight released, plus Character's additional one last year. They're all variants or repaints of the original three classic TARDIS sets Forbidden Planet had back in the day anyway, with a couple of new moulded pieces thrown in (one new base a several lamps). The only part that hasn't been used multiple times is the lamp on the Shada TARDIS, which I think was unique to that story. There have been two each for Doctors 2-5 but this one is the first Hartnell, so he's bound to get another one using this new roof. The only question will be how they make the paint on the TARDIS and the Doctor any different to what's already out.

Made a couple of offers for the Hartnell TARDIS, which were rejected. Burns will not go above double RRP for something that should be in shops now.
Another offer sent. Tension.
