The Pertwee Sonic Screwdriver is rather nice. Sure, the new Doctors one is bigger, chunkier and more lighty-uppy. But there is something to be said for classic elegance.
That Dalek boxed set is rather nice too. It pretty much covers all the bases of the Dalek looks I remember from when I first saw Doctor Who, along with the added attraction of the SWD - which I remember being rather impressed by as a kid, bringing a much bigger gun to solve the problem seemed a very Daleky thing to do.

Nowt wrong with the new one, but I've never seen it set off mines, thus deterring appraoching monsters in sea vests.

Thanks to Andu, at last I have a fat red 2010 Dalek, having never caught sight of one in a shop despite much hunting! Bit of a shame the eye stalk can't move but it's a nice desk-top item. I feel the urge to pick up the Remembrance set at some point so he can boss them around and demand pies.

I find I cannot recommend Play.com for toy purchases. For CD's, DVD's and downloads they are fine. They send these things (other than downloads) through Royal Mail.
I ordered the 11 Doctors set from them. They were sent by courier (the ridiculously named 'Hermes'). From tracking, I have found out that said courier claimed that my address does not exist, no delivery attempt was made and they have sent it back to Play. Hopefully I will be able to get a refund. Never ordering a toy from them again.

One of my local post offices raise a query about your address when I sent you something signed..... now obviously it does exist but I wonder if there's a problem with it on some computer database somewhere?

On the flipside, I've not had problems ordering toys from play.com before. I still need to get the 11 Doctors set though

Their automated system says I cannot even contact them to get my money back before the 7th of January.
Oh well. They have now lost my business completely. Nowt wrong with having to wait a while before a refund but I object to being unable to contact a human being.

Where Play failed, TRU stepped up the plate. In 3 different parts of the shop are around 3 dozen sets. Thus, one was claimed.
I shall briefly pass through Glasgow next week on way to folks. Should FPG have them, Delgado Master and Peri must be claimed...

My Army Awakes!
For a certain value of Army... having found an Earthshock Cyberman figure going for eight quid in Tesco (the first one I have seen in the Plastic) I felt I simply had to purchase him. He has now smashed his way out of his puny plastic packaging, grabbed his Cybergun and is shambling around the shelves looking for my Peter Davison-Doctor to menace.

I saw a couple when the Army of Steel range came into TRU last year, but all 6 Earthshock Cybermen from the 2 cases I put out were gone by the end of my shift! It was midweek, too!

My Tesco does not seem to be a hot-spot for toys selling, they have got this stuff in the seasonal aisle and the Who figures certainly do not seem to be selling in any particular hurray(Read, it looks like I am the only person buying them.....)
I don't think that it will be Masters we end up with a load of though - looks like the shelves are overrun with Ice Warriorsssss. (Although someone apparently wanted the Voc robots...)

I've found an image repository of Dapol figures, those wonderful, mad toys made by Dapol for Doctor Who from the late 80s to 2001. They were pretty awful toys for the 80s, but they never really updated any of their molds or processes, so continued churning out pretty crappy toys until 2001 when they lost their license. Along the way we got a green K9, a two-armed Davros, many many Bonnie Langford colour variations and a whole array of daleks, some even covered in sparkly glitter. Crap, but in an endearing, innocent way. Whole range is here: www.richardwho.com/DapolProject/index.aspI had an all-gold dalek, and a red and silver dalek Fourth Doctor playset with... Grabbed a Flight Control TARDIS in the Sainsburys 25% off everything sale. I thought it was time I had a TARDIS for the Doctors to argue over who gets to fly it. Though I need to find the screwdrivers I have apparently eaten before I can make it do the noises. And buy the batteries which don't effing come with it.
In other news, saw a Fourth Doctor Sonic Screwdriver in FP.

I've just bought a Flight Control Tardis for Jonathan: he keeps wanting to open the doors on his moulded shut Tardis money box. I got mine from TRU.co.uk: Bonus 11th Doctor and pervy policewoman Pond figures.
