Captain America: Zola is still alive and kicking so could easily return as a 'face in a box' villain in a future film... PS Zola is the Dream Lord from Doctor Who! -Ralph

Hm, my dilemma: never read Captain America comics, and the cinema trailer doesn't make me want to see it, yet it gets three out of three positive reviews on the Hub. What to do, what to do... Edit: I suppose I shall have to go and see it for this reason alone. Maybe a Bargain Tuesday at Cineworld beckons... Just watched the post-CA-credits bonus scene / Avengers teaser on YouTube. Impressive casting continuity. Pity about Edward Norton, but still very impressive. Martin

It's the same director as on The Rocketeer and has a similar feel. Though Rocketeer does pip it, I'd say.

1) The King's Speech. 2) X-Men: First Class 3) True Grit. 4) Captain America. 5) Thor. 6) 13 Assassins. 7) Limitless. 8) Battle Los Angeles. 9) Source Code. 10) The Conspirator. 11) The Adjustment Bureau. 12) Attack the Block. 13) The Eagle. 14) Unknown. 15) Fast Five. 16) The Way. 17) Sucker Punch. 18) Super 8: This has an excellent child cast and shows early promise with a clever premise: what if a group of kids were out filming a monster movie with a hobby camera when they came across a 'real life' monster movie, ie monster on the rampage? Unfortunately, this does sod all with that premise and abandones the 'super 8 camera' angle so fast I got whiplash. Indeed, the home movie aspect has sod all to do with anything. Similarly, the '70's setting is equally pointless. The film could have been set in 2011 with some kids with a camcorder for all the difference that makes. Actually, they could have been camping or anything else at all. Instead, the film quickly degenerates into a generic monster movie with becomes progressively less interesting as it goes on and ultimately bores. Pointless. 19) Green Lantern. OMEGA) Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

1 - The King's Speech 2 - X-Men: First Class. 3 - Captain America. Great fun here from start to finish, although maybe the pace could've been slightly faster. Some awesome moments showing Cap actually earning the right to his reputation. And of course the great 'bond' segment. 4 - Thor 5 - Limitless 6 - Source Code 7 - The Way 8 - The Hangover II 9 - Tangled 10 - True Grit 11 - Paul 12 - Bad Teacher 13 - Transformers: Dark of the Moon 14 - Hanna 15 - Attack the Block

Just saw Battle: Los Angeles.
Quite enjoyable, could almost have been a side story to Transformerss: DOTAMAN.
Aaron Eckhart was top notch.

It essentially is DOTAMAN, but better (and much shorter). It knows it is tosh. And yes, Harvey Dent acts his little cotton socks off in it.

1. X-Men: First Class (pay attention, George Lucas - this is how you do prequels) 2. Limitless (first film of the year I intend to buy) 3. The King's Speech (perfect and tear-inducing) 4. Thor (enjoyable tongue-in-cheek spectacle) 5. Unknown (great set-up, somewhat unoriginal resolution) 6. Captain America (much more entertaining than the trailer suggests - mind you, the costume looks rather silly) 7. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (pow! choom! kabooom!) 8. Source Code (not bad - preferred Denzel Washington in Deja Vu a few years back) 9. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (unnecessary and unoriginal but still decent fun) 10. Black Swan (unpleasant/disturbing and yet praiseworthy) 11. The Green Hornet 3D (enjoyable but forgettable silliness)

I am stunned that we live in a world in which there is a good Smurfs movie. 7) 13 Assassins. 8) Limitless. 9) Battle Los Angeles. 10) Source Code. 11) The Conspirator. 12) The Adjustment Bureau. 13) Attack the Block. 14) The Eagle. 15) Unknown. 16) Fast Five. 17) The Way. 18) Sucker Punch. 19) Super 8. 20) Green Lantern. All the pretty visuals in the world can't save this snooze-fest from ultimately being one big hollow bore. 21) Green Lantern. OMEGA) Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Totally incorrect portrayal of animal research as well. 16 - Attack the Block

I'm really not sure what went wrong with Apes. It's a complete misfire. All the elements to make a good film are there but it just does not gel exemplified by the 'human race is doomed' ending being bafflingly placed in amongst the noise of the post-movie credits sequence rather than as a stinger after the final shot of Ceasar, thus robbing it completely of any impact whatsoever.

1) X-Men: First Class 2) True Grit 3) Captain America 4) Thor 5) Thirteen Assassins 6) Cowboys vs Aliens - Good fun tosh which works because Favreau opts to direct it is a straight up western most of them time. which makes the incongruity of having aliens and their flying machines look that bit odder. 7) Source Code 8) Green Lantern 9) (by default) Tekken

John Favreau is a director for me. With the Iron Man films that makes three out of three.
I must admit one of his success factors Is a knack for acquiring top-notch actors.
I'm very glad someone put the damper on His ambition to be Ultimate Fighting Champion.
To Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig comes a second But he makes a better cowboy than he does a James Bond.

1) X-Men: First Class 2) True Grit 3) Captain America 4) Thor 5) Thirteen Assassins 6) Cowboys vs Aliens 7) Source Code 8) Conan - a fairly standard action movie. Nothing wrong with it but it doesn't really stand out of the pack. Jason Momoa is a fantastic Conan in search of a proper Conan movie though. 9) Rise of the Planet of the Apes - frustrating. All the bits are in place they just don't assembly properly into a film. It does feel like it still needs some polish to be quite ready. The Apes are fantastic - you forget they are a special effect and they just become characters. A shame that the same can't be said for the humans. 10) Green Lantern 11+) (by default) Tekken

1- The Kings Speech 2- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 2 3- Captain America 4- Tron Legacy I've rewatched this twice on Sky this week so its bumping HP7 pt1. 5- HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban 6- HP an the Order of the Phoenix 7- Xmen First Class 8- Thor 9- Super 8 10- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 1 11- Attack the Block 12- HP and the Goblet of Fire 13- Paul 14- Transformers DOTM 15- True Grit 16- Black Swan 17- Tangled 18- Cars 2 Cars and now Cars 2 are the only Pixar movies I've walked out of the cinema and not thought "that.s the best Pixar film yet". Not that its bad, it great fun, but and technically mind blowing visuals, but its just too generic a comedy romp to compare to the rest of what Pixar do. 19- Cowboys and Aliens nothing wrong with it, I just don't think its something I'll end up rewatching that often in the future. My lack of interest in westerns probably doesn't help. 19- HP and the Chamber of secrets 20- Battlefield LA 21- Unknown 22- I am Number 4 23- Your Highness 24- Meet the Parents

They explode. He gets hit and barely goes down. Fun enough, but nothing more or to come back to. 12 - True Grit 13 - Paul 14 - Bad Teacher 15 - Transformers: Dark of the Moon 16 - Hanna 17 - Planet of the Apes 18 - Attack the Block

1)) X-Men: First Class 2) True Grit 3) Captain America 4) Thor 5) Thirteen Assassins 6) Battle: Los Angeles - wants to be the best middle of the road action movie it can be, and achieves that in spades. One of the better daft action films we have had in a long time. Effectively it is pretty much the same film as large chunks of the second half of Transformers:DOTaMan, only much better at it. Also, it has Aaron Eckhart bringing conviction far over-and-above the call of duty to proceedings. 7) Cowboys vs Aliens 8) Source Code 9) Conan - a fairly standard action movie. One guffaw inducing element of Apollo 18 I forgot to mention was that loads of effort went into film stock and ratios, etc of cameras from the early 70's yet the sound from them was in 6.1.
Yes I know only people like me notice that kind of thing.

One thing that I noticed which annoyed me considerably was how gravity was normal inside the lunar module but just outside it was the expected 1/6th. Which they went to a lot of trouble to simulate. Gah!
