Still just about managing to hold off the Core class but I know I'm going to regret that the minute the Ark's base mode is shown. Core class is where it's at. The future of Transformers. -Ralph

Parcel Farce seem to like doing it that way. I think they like to make 'find the parcel' games for me. They're thoughtful like that. Either that or the delivery driver is very shy. Our Parcelfarce guy is a tad unhappy but he does turn up on time and hands things to me. -Ralph

Once you get one in-hand, you will understand. Hasbro has figured out how to do Voyager quality at a small size.

Hmm.
The Soundwave will probably break me. At which point W1 will be out of stock everywhere and cost a MILLION pounds a figure.
I do kinda get it, I've got Vertebreak and was surprised by how complex she is compared to previous figures that size.

Correct toys inside and well packaged too. Perhaps things are looking up at Kapow. Looking at these through the packaging, three things spring to mind:
1. Ultra Magnus now looks like Ultra Magnus. Cracking head. Do not regret selling the Siege one to fund this one. 2. You can see so little of these toys through the smaller windows. I don't remember noticing that with wave one. You get no idea what Inferno looks like, you can only see his chest. Ractonite could be anything, there's just a head! 3. Huffer's head doesn't look quite right. I will be making careful comparisons to my cherished Mechanic Studio one.

HUFFER!
He's brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Jolly large though, isn't he? Like Huffer with the Matrix. Huffer Prime.
Blown the Mini-Autobots collection to smithereens he has.
I'd have rather he was a touch smaller- both in height and mass, but he's so good one cannot help but forgive him and welcome him into one's bosom.

My Kingdom Ultra Magnus just arrived. I'm watching Transformers The Movie (with commentary); I paused it at the doorbell, appropriately at the exact moment that Ultra Magnus had a full-screen close-up!

This is an interesting Ultra Magnus. I prefer the robot modes to the vehicle. The inner robot is satisfyingly chunky and I like the blue faceplate (nod to the original), while the blue highlights on the waist remind me of Dreamwave's version. I like how the larger robot has been done very much as an armour suit. The way the waistplate transforms is a nice touch. The cab transformation is quite novel. Though partformers in general are perhaps not the strongest method of transforming, I quite like this one, particularly the way the legs fold out to form the sides of the trailer (similar to the way Cyclonus' nose unfold from his torso). I don't like the arms sticking out behind the cab, the head dangling inside the trailer, the inability to open the trailer doors and the lack of pivot between cab and trailer.

Studio Series Jazz and Hot Rod finally arrived on Monday. Hurrah! Jazz is a nice little figure, even though I have the fear transforming him given his roof - definitely the best Jazz that we've had recently. Hot Rod isn't a bad figure, but he does feel a little underwhelming, given the price. I mean, I know his accessories are meant to justify the price, but... they don't really feel like they do. And whilst he's nice and all, I've got to admit that I think I prefer the Legends version of Titans Return Hot Rod - that toy just feels like more fun.

I used the eBay 20% off tip off from Llama to up my Snap Ships count, but put in a Core Optimus too because it only came to £8.80. That box came today so I'll celebrate the start of the holiday by having an inspection later.

Disappointing to hear - I was planning on skipping Starscream since I like the T30/CW mold so much, but had been planning on picking up Megatron instead. If he's not great though, maybe not...

Okay, some thoughts on SS86 Hot Rod.
In robot mode, he's great. Looks almost exactly like Hot Rod does. He's got tricky shoulders to pose, you do need to be careful with that because they're a legacy of his transformation scheme. I've seen a post on Twitter celebrating how small Hot Rod's backpack is, and it is true, it's barely there. But there is a sad reason for that.
His transformation is complex and fiddly, and makes me think this is not a toy for Ralph. Even using the instructions for reference, there was one step that tripped me up on the way back to robot mode.
And the car is... underwhelming. All the compromises in getting the screen accurate robot are shown here. As I've noted before, his proportions are off. The front of the car too short, the rear too long. And the reason for that almost non-existent backpack in robot mode? Because the car is very flat. It's been photographed well, because this took me by surprise.
I can see why Hot Rod is more expensive than his fellow Autobot Cars in SS86, the engineering in his transformation is very intricate and tricky. And I suspect all the blast effects and such are to push him from a £25 toy to a £30 one. I'm a little disappointed with his accessories, if I'm honest. The Matrix especially. Simply because he doesn't have anywhere to store it. he's either lugging it in his hands or you leave it behind. No chest cavity that I've found. His guns and sawblade at least store on his back, but that bulks up the backpack again.
Overall, I'm really happy with him, and I doubt he'll be in car mode too often. For his size and accuracy, we're not getting a better Hot Rod.
