John Barber.... I've liked the tone of some of the stuff he has done with the movie tie-ins, so I think I will grab the first issue of this and see what it is like.

Looking forward to this. I've enjoyed John Barber's work so far and Andrew Griffith's art passes muster!

I got my hopes up a bit when I read the title. But, that RiD has been started and finished. Hope this namesake does well. I need to read more ===KEN

While MTMTE is the one I'm anticipating most (more James Roberts writey goodness!!!), this is the one I'm most curious about. It's been a while since I've seen Andrew Griffith draw G1 Transformers and I think he's improved a lot since last he did, so I'm looking forward to it. Also it's the first time John is writing G1, so I'm drawing an absolute blank as to what it will be like. Gonna be good, I'm sure!

Oh without a doubt new work from Mr Roberts is the winner by a country mile round these parts. However, John Barber's work in the Bayverse has been by far and away the best (Honourable mention for Chris Mowry) so I am keen to see what he does in a more classic set up.

Yeah, I've liked what I have read of Barber's work so far. Not always been keen on the artists that he has been paired with but I thought that he has done a fairly decent job with what he has had to work with. It'll be interesting to see what he can do with a slightly more open field.

I think Andrew will be a star. The work on Foundation was splendid, as he made the Movie designs work in print - which few people have to be honest.

I'm looking forward to seeing the two of them together to be honest. They were each the strongest thing about their respective movie series in my opinion so I am hoping that they can make each other stronger together. Karl

In the same way IDW released images on line for MTMTE #1 - they are doing it for RID #1 too.
I don't know how many there are
Ones i've found -
Skywarp, Shockwave, Bombshell, Soundwave, metalhawk,
ratbat, tappet, starscream, bumblebee, prowl, wheeljack, ironhide, zetca
not seen
Needlenose,
They have done 14 - so thats 2 more than MTMTE.

Read #1. Enjoyed it. Has a different feel from Autocracy and MTMTE, which is good as otherwise what would be the point. The ending was inevitable but I am glad it was not swerved. I think this will be a slow-burner of a title, but there's still enough going on to hold interest.

Solid start. Felt more might have happened, but enough went on to keep me happy. Read it on my phone, though and felt I missed out on some of the impact of the art.

Enjoyed this.
As others have said it's going to be the slow burner but just by it's very set up it really has to be otherwise things will feel forced.

Grabbed it this morning and enjoyed the read. At one point I thought that it was setting up to quickly hurtle back to all-out war but actually I think that's just me worrying. There did seem quite a bit of recapping (or duplicated information) but I guess not everyone will have picked up MTMTE #1 so it makes sense. Overall a good setup issue.

Ish 1 arrived on Friday and has been given a couple of good peruses. Pleased with this book so far. It has a different tone and pacing to the first issue of MTME that much is certain - and well it should, because if both books were the same then one of them would be redundant. I quite like what it is setting up, the characters are interesting and the status quo of the book has some potential for interesting storytelling. Nice to see another first issue that functions properly and sets up the premise of the book properly without expecting you to have read other comics. I like the fact that a lot of the classic Heavyweight, villian characters are currently not the main drivers of the story - Ratbat's especially was quite good, very in-keeping with what we have seen of his backstory in Megatron:Origins.
The idea of Cybertron becoming an almost seeming-deliberately hostile environment for Cybertronian life is an nice touch - it does feel as if the planet is actively rejecting their presence, not that one can blame it much...
Off to a good start I think, with the promise of skullduggery, dodgy-dealings and civil unrest rather than a straightforward clash of Good against Evil seeming quite promising on the basis of this first issue. Three for three so far IDW, I am impressed. Karl

I wasn't quite as taken by #2, partly because Bumblebee seems to have been dropped on his head between issues (veering dangerously close to Costa characterisation) and also because I personally never care for the endless 'Starscream does his usual thing' shtick found in all TF media, but it was generally well put together and I still enjoyed it for the most part.

I do have reservations about Starscream, as he is simply a one note character and whenever he is front and centre of stories they do seem to drag. He is nowhere near as interesting as some people seem to find him.
Although I am enjoying Ratbat in this series. Prowl is playing all the angles and this isn't going to go well for him.

I will admit that my heart sank a little when Starscream emerged into the light of the story. I'm not really a fan of the usual Starscream schtick that we tend to get and I worry that this is what we will be seeing.
That said, I liked the various skullduggery's that are afoot - especially Prowl's determination to be the "hard 'bot making hard decisions", it remains an interesting place to take the character and fits a set-up where somethings are less clear-cut than simple good robots versus evil robots.
Didn't grab me quite as much as the first issue, but it is still quite readable and definitely has me interested enough to stick with it.

Have to say, I'm not quite as excited about RID so far compared to MTMTE (I still like it, but I'm not as excited when the release date comes, unlike how I am with MTMTE)

If Optimus is now Orion Pax - why is it he still looks like Optimus from Ongoing #1-31?
But we have never seen that the matrix in IDW changed Optimus - but he should not be looking like Optimus when he is Orion. He should have single windscreen & turn into smaller cab.

It's just a name change. No need for Nip/Tuck to restore his youthful appearance.

He'll probably be changed to a new body though, like most other characters have (and judging by most of them, it'll be based on either his WFC or FOC body)
