Indeed though the system does need reform. People are being priced off the trains.

The changes being driven by the train firms I could see the off peak prices being raised to peak levels

Indeed.
Given the amount they are subsidised anyway - fuck them. I want the whole system nationalised again.

Sad day. Pinwig has been on a train today. He's gone to town to watch Endgame. Trains are fun, even the boring DMUs down these parts.

Still catching up with the last series of Great British Railway Journeys because so many come so quickly. Couple of episodes on Glasgow so I've learned about the subway. That looks great! I like the idea you can go round and round in circles and the fact it's called the clockwork orange. I will visit one day.

In real life it is deeply unexciting.

No! I don't believe you!
Have you ever been all the way round in one go?

I'm also surprised to find that because the buildings in Glasgow are laid out on a US style grid system that it has doubled for San Francisco in films!

No! I don't believe you! Have you ever been all the way round in one go? Yes. I'm from Glasgow. I've been on it a great many times. -Ralph

Neither. Merely much unpleasantness if I made the mistake of getting on when there was there a football game happening!

Grand Moff Muffin Trains to London: Proposal for faster service from Cardiff www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-48615464Can't see it happening. or at least any faster. There might be space at the Wales end of business but the paths just aren't available, east of Reading. Swindon can be easily skipped - there's a central road used by freight trains - and Didcot p2 is occupied just 2-3 times an hour, but Reading? Nah. And surely any gain not stopping there would be lost with the proposed extra calls in Wales.

I had a non-stopping train from Paddington to Bristol Parkway a week and a half ago, but that was because it was delayed leaving by almost half an hour and so almost caught up with the next service on the schedule.
Despite all the announcements, you can bet someone got onto it in a rush planning to get out at Reading or Swindon...

Can be done, but needs the right conditions in place.... which I don't believe are available on a regular basis.
