Several of the Commanders are really Fab: Smolder, the tank, the jet & the boat spring to mind. And the Minicons are, on the most part, fab

I really wanted the Dinobot set actually, but never saw it in shops. :/ Wasn't paying too much to TF releases at the time and was just checking the formerly local Sainsburys and Tescos. Whenever I feel my wallet's recovered from my recent TF spending, I might hunt one down.

yeah i recomend the dinobot set as well. overal very nice, and the single figures have a few jems worth getting. heavy tread the tank is a fantastic figure great with or without any drones.
i also agree with Phil about the minicons, i even went to the extent of buying some of the comander figures just for their minicons! fine they were on sale, but still throttler, sledges minicon is just fantastic, great in every mode and even has a passable fan mode sword mode...
as a side note i think the prime arms micron wave will have seperate minicons which are all from the pcc line including throttler... ima gonna get me some of them!

I enjoyed PCC a lot, and never had a problem with the articulation or gimmick - the main annoyances for me were the odd design flaws on some drones which meant they wouldn't stay on properly, or limbs which didn't really look like anything (I'm thinking the helicopter aerialbot).
There are some really nice commanders in there which can stand-alone as good scout-sized Transformers, and transparent plastic aside (glad to see Takara aren't going that route) some nice mini-cons.
It's also struck me how much diversity of opinion there is on the toys - possibly the only near-universally liked commander is Heavytread. I really like Searchlight, many don't. Skyhammer and Leadfoot don't do it for me like they seem to for others, though I admit both make good torsos.
I'm really glad to see Takara doing something with them, anyway. From the Amazon photos Searchlight and Icepick look amazing, and if they fix some of the connection flaws I might look at a couple more 5-packs.

Store exclusive Promo. I want, but not at that price. I saw one on eBay a month or so ago for £20 shipped; there is also a set of all 3 exclusives for about £50 shipped at the moment. It's sitting in my watch list but I don't think I'm likely to bite: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120899473753

Icepick's repaint isn't a Night Cat or Tiger Cat so is thus an epic fail.
I loved the clear Minicons, thought it was a great idea.

I have yet to try combining any of the figures, which I suppose is missing half the point of the line, but I picked them up based on their stand-alone merits. For what it's worth, I would totally have picked up the one from the "sports" car set too if I'd seen him repainted solo. I regret not picking up the helicopter mould... I think I have one version of all the other solo releases. Leadfoot, conversely, was one of the biggest disappointments for me; I don't like his goofy hands, and to be honest prefer him with the combiner head to his regular one. I love his minicon's design most of all though, it goes wonderfully with his car mode.

I have to say I *really* don't understand the love for the PCC minicons I see everywhere. Of the ones I have, and the others I've looked at, I think they're all amongst the worst TFs of all time.
Trying to be four things at once in such a small toy, they fail at everything. Most of them have terrible robot modes, weapon modes never look like anything, and armor modes likewise fail pretty damn hard. The two worst being Pinpointer (I think? He came with Leadfoot), and the one who came with Heavytread. All Pinpoint is good for is robot mode, and even that is just barily passible. It's weapon and engine modes don't look like anything at all. And the one with Heavytread fails epically at all four of it's modes. The boat's minicon has a good robot mode, but fails at it's other two modes.
The Minicons either needed to focus on one gimmick. Either transforming into a weapon, or turning into armor.

You got me on Heavtread, and yeah most of the armour modes are poor but I think they're great weapons on the most part and decent robots. Better than the Classics Minicons certainly.

I'll just say that's debatable and leave it at that. It's all personal opinion. Even mine on the PCC minicons. I enjoyed the classics minicons, and the original minicons a lot more than the PCC minicons.

For me, Groundspike fails as a weapon (it droops!) but looks good as chest armour and isn't bad as that sort of blade / plow thing on the front of Heavytread.

The longer this thread goes on, the more I regret not having picked up the PCC guys I'm missing. I think Icepick lost out to Leadfoot when I had the chance, and I wish I'd grabbed Icrpick mainly for Chainclaw...
I think the only minicon weapons that I don't like are the ones without a symmetrical way of holding/mounting them to a larger figure in gun mode... Pinpoint is especially frustrating for this. I was sad to see that one of the few things that DOESN'T seem to be on shapeways for the PCC guys is some kind of reverse Minicon post which would become a 5mm handle. I might have to go make one when I get time.

There's some Lego pieces which might come to your rescue! I don't remember the exact part name / number but you know those 2 x 1 bricks with a round hole in them? The connector tubes which fit them together fit nicely in mini-con ports. They can be bought quite cheaply off the Lego site, too.

are these the pieces you mean Phil? www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=1&q=3673&sz=10&searchSort=Pman i have loads of these (massive lego fan) i never knew you could do that! great thanks again man! I have to say I *really* don't understand the love for the PCC minicons I see everywhere. Of the ones I have, and the others I've looked at, I think they're all amongst the worst TFs of all time. Trying to be four things at once in such a small toy, they fail at everything. The boat's minicon has a good robot mode, but fails at it's other two modes. The Minicons either needed to focus on one gimmick. Either transforming into a weapon, or turning into armor. yeah alot of the pcc minicons are meh. however throttler (sledges minicon) is one of the best minicons made in my opinion. his weapon mode is solid and is versatile with attachment points, and has a proper transformation as well. it even has a spinning gimmick that doesnt negatively effect the toy. his bot mode is great with good articulation ball hips, shoulders, elbows and knees! i would have ten of these guys if i could! even his armour mode (which i have to say for most of the pccs make me wince in prudish embarrassment due to their obscene positions) is acceptable dare i say even good. the only other minicons i really like are chainclaw who has a good bot mode and alt mode. his armour mode is cumbersome but unlike most, looks functional. i also like skyhammer, his bot mode is good, his alt mode is passable, but yeah his armour mode is just a little orange dude smeared across the chest of a commander figure... other than those all the rest are varying shades of bleh... although i do have a soft spot for backwind and his red recolour... yeah weapon mode is obscure at best and his armour mode is not good, but he is just such a cool little dude in his own right! i find he ends up in my pocket for solo adventures all the time and i have found with some mistransformation and a lot of squinting he can make a passable sub-machine gun looking thing or if stuck on the back of one of the truck molds makes a passable tow hook/spotlight/chaingun (as you do)... but yeah they are all grasping, but he is still such a neat little bot with his hunched look and hook arm and chain gun hand... for some reason he makes me think of blot from the terrorcons...

Yup, they're basically a 5mm tube that will fit into a Minicon plug or figure's hand. Might need a little blu tak or something to stabilise in some cases but ....

I suspect the "friction ridges" versions are better. Next time I get the chance to pull Minicons and/or Lego out of storage, I will have to try and hunt for some... Or maybe coat the other kind with clear nail polish or something. Don't suppose anyone's had any UK PCC sightings of old stock lately have they?
