www.youtube.com/user/peaughPeaugh has videoreviewed a few of the new Powercore chappies. I'm not quite sure what to make of them. They don't really appeal to me in the slightest.

Hmm, I'm not convinced 'bout these still. But I said that 'bout Beast Wars once upon a time.

The Combaticons do nothing for me, though I like Smolder's robot mode (fire engine guy). The general shape of the vehicle mode reminds me of Tackle. Indeed, all of the Powercore Combiners give me a Multiforce vibe when I look at them.

I think Smoulder might repaint nicely as Trailbreaker

I'm conflicted. I like the 0ffering - but I think it's just a "oh new shiny!" kind of thing. The power core combiners have a great G1 vibe to them in terms of their aesthetic, and Huffer especially is very Hufferish in terms of color scheme... As for the combiners - I really like them precisely because they remind me of G1 - insofar as the little ones look crappy... and then there's a relatively less crappy, though still crappy big one... That said - it's annoying to me that the Jedi Council doesn't seem to appreciate your powers... wait... no... it's annoying to me that the gestalts don't have fists. Come on. Why? Is it REALLY that hard to give them fists? As for the Generations figures... have we seen what Megatron, "Darkmount" etc etc are supposed to look like? I'm actually thinking of getting ALL of these... honestly... Just pre-ordering all of them and getting back into the swing of it... I like Hubcap.... I like Smolder and Huffer. Searchlight is interesting - it's obviously the Throttlebot as a helicopter - you can tell by the head... I'm kind of torn here.... Will I be cursing these as crap six months from now? Probably. Nah. Won't do it... Gotta stick to the plan of selecting ONE...ONE TF representing a character I like... I like Huffer. This 2010 Huffer would do nicely hmm... Oh...and one other question: Does Hasbro intend on coming out with more Combiners like these? Because if so - then that could be fun. I would love Monstercons, Stunticons, Protectobots, Predacons.... the works... a kind of Scramble City revamp would be lots of fun... I dunno... we'll see... Pete

Sorry for the double post - but my enthusiasm just DIED when I discovered that the individual smaller components of the Combaticons and Arielbots...don't have robos modes! Multiforce had vehicles splitting into two robots that could then combine into different vehicles. It's like Hasbro is afraid to actually use the TRANSFORMERS concept in their transformer toys these days... Shame...waste...shame cry Pete

Having had a fiddle with them now thanks to a certain hubber, I can indeed say that the Powercore figures are actually really fun and pretty amazing. And this is from a hardcore grump!

Yes as Mr Marshall indicated I do now have Smoulder (and Chopster) as well as Bombshock (not Onslaught) & the Combaticons. And they are superb. Reviews to follow when I have the time.
But today has certainly guarenteed a few sales for them north of the border....
