You sure? I think it's Marshall Rodgers from Silver Surfer issue 2 (1986?)

No it is Ron Garney.

Yeah, I checked Surfer 2, which the dialogue make me think it was from, and can't find that panel. Which is odd cos I don't like a lot of Garney's work: he did some awful art on the early (good) issues of Austen's X-men run.

I like Ron Garney quite a bit, and have done since his days on Ghost Rider.

As I said, bad initial experience (Inker at fault I suspect) but what I've seen elsewhere has been better.
So where's that panel from then?

Issue 131 according to the answers, which would put it in the Dematteis run I think.

2) Moebius: Gorgeous stuff. Only two issue but look at it? Turns out there's a Panini volume with this and the Jack Issues and the first issue (in colour) drawn by 1) Marshall Rodgers: Note to self: Reprinting Fantastic Four Vol.1 #48-50, Tales to Astonish #92-93, Silver Surfer Vol.1 #1, Tomb of Dracula #50, Silver Surfer Vol.2 #1 and Silver Surfer: Parable Silver Surfer v2 #1 is the Byrne drawn special and *not* the Rodgers drawn series. Grrrr.

1) John Romita Jr - I'm reading Essential ASM 11 at the mo. More on this later. 2) John Byrne - Love those MTU issues. Love. 3) Todd MacFarlane - his c 300 run is fab 4) John Romita Sr 5) Erik Larsen
Yeah Dikto did some great stuff but it doesn't float my boat. And although I'm a big Sal fan for his Hulk/Rom work he got a bit stylised during his late 80s PPtSSM run

1) Steve Ditko - classic and best. Parker looks like a nerd, Spider-Man looks properly lithe 2) Mark Buckingham - loved his run with Jenkins 3) John Romita Sr - took the geekiness out of Parker, but still great work 4) John Byrne - I don't care for Chapter One or his run with Mackie, but he draws Spidey brilliantly 5) John Romita Jr - I wish I'd read more issues by him where I also like the writing
I like Larsen's take but have actually read very few interiors by him, just seen covers. Bagley is also very good.

Mark Bagley is tops for me, easily. John Romita Sr. Sal Buscema (mainly for his Goblin). Erik Larsen (first modern-age Spidey story I read as a nipper was the Return Of The Sinister Six) John Romita Jr.
The Romitas were hard to decide with way to have them, but then I remembered a couple of pages Sr did in an Ultimate Spider-Man special that were utterly glorious, and my decision was made.
Also keen on J. Scott Campbell, Joe Madureira, and more recently Chris Bachalo's takes as well.

Me? I think his work on the Straczynski stuff was pretty amazing. I feel he hit a high with some of that material.

Any of you.
But that's interesting: I'd say the earlier run is better

How much earlier? I think I first encountered him during Maximum Clonage... on Spider-Man at least. His X-Men would be another matter.

I'll have to pass on this. Superman has interested me more in other media, ironically. Except for Smallville.
What I have seen of Curt Swan's line-work is spiffy though and I have soft spot for Byrne's Supes.
