Do we known if there was any plans for releasing any other G1 original toys during G2 - apart from the 8 that we got [mode Optimus, Jazz, Sideswipe, Inferno, Starscream, Dinobots] Simon did seem to use some others in the comic, maybe Marvel came up with a list [not included the teams because the comic did not have them in repaint colours] & Hasbro only did some of them. Also not included minibots or Constructions repaints - same reason as the teams. No metal gold Bumblebee in the comic etc. But the 3 Dinobots where released & Grimlock was blue in #2.

Sludge would have look great in those colours - better than original. Don't like that yellow Grimlock.

Simon was largely free of the "toy catalogue" restrictions he was under for G1. So any characters that appeared in his G2 comic really wasn't influenced by what Hasbro was doing. Which is why the main villain to this day has never received a toy, and why so many G1 characters had appearances. Most of his character choices were done because it made sense from where G1 left off. (Bludgeon as decepticon leader, the mayhem attack squad being high ranking decepticons, and such). As for the combiners not appearing in G2 colors... neither did most of the other G1 repaints. I think Sideswipe was about the only one. (Maybe Starscream, I can't remember very well)

The only point in the comics where we got "hey its the new toy" was just Megatron [but that was in the Gijoe comic] But Simon just had Dreadwind #7 & rotor/laser then optimus Combat Hero at end.

I didn't know Sgt Hound and friends had got quite so close to release. And I've never seen those Combat Heroes repaints before.
"One noteable thing - note how it says "Manufactured under licensce from Takara Co. Ltd." Hmm, so this means Takara not only designed Dreadwing/Smokescreen, they also held onto the licensce? " Er, it says this on everything.

Support my memory or correct me folks:
My recollection here is that *generally* the Euro G2 releases were the year after the US ones.
So in 1994 we got black trailer Optimus, tank Megatron, recoloured cars and planes - and Superion as a woolworths exclusive on US cards
1995 was Archforce and Sureshot and the ATB (but also we caught up and got the first wave Cyberjets)
Anyone got any evidence to support this?

I got a Cyberjet from Argos in 1996. Prime was either Christmas 93 or 94. The recoloured cyberjets I got from a Morrisons in 96 or 97. But how long they had been out when I got any of them I don't know.

I'm pretty sure we didn't get G2 here in 1993: I've got the Hasbro pack in catalogue for that year. My recall is it came out 1994 and for that year I don't have anything.
I've got a G2 product poster and a photocopy of a Hasbro toyfair brochure from either 95 or 96 - I'll dig those out.

Found the G2 Poster on my HDD and unploaded it to flicker at www.flickr.com/photos/philip_ayres/sets/72157640371464226/ with the 92 & 3 Euro posters. In 1994 we got Optimus w black trailer Megatron 2 reissued cars, sideswipe in new colours 2 recoloured jets Dinobots Dreadwing Illuminators Combat Heroes Aquaspeeders Stormtroopers Rotorbots Sparkabots the last 5 are all euro exclusives of some description: CH had redone stickers and name, Aquaspeeders were different colours to the US, last 3 are straight euro exclusives. plus Axelerators, Skyscorchers, Lightformers & Trakkons carried over from the previous year

My memories are blurred because I was on Holiday in the US in 93 and saw the full g2 range and its hard to believe there was an 18 month gap between getting G2 Starscream and G2 Prime. But it probably was or my parents picked up Prime on holiday and kept it till Christmas, though thats unlikely.

I recall seeing the re-done versions of old moulds in shops quite a while before I saw any new moulds. For a long while in my area all I saw was black trailer Prime and recall being unimpressed by the new line just being a 10-year old toy!

Another problem with the old moulds is that most of them had recently been sitting on the uk shelves in their original colours in classics boxes. Some of them, Optimus in particular, probably still were!
Of the old toys the UK got recolours of in 94 only Slag, Starscream and Ramjet hadn't been on UK shelves relatively recently.

Phil, were Powermaster Darkwing's wings fixed - I remember them as moving, but it is a while since I've owned one and my brain might be going "He's a Tornado, of course they are." You're right they do move: compare jet and combined mode at www.tfu.info/1988/Decepticon/Darkwing/darkwing.htmBut the initial point still stands: It's only been done on a much larger toy before.

$6000 currently. What's the record for the highest price Transformer ever, and what was it?

$15k for an AFA graded US Piranacon giftset according to a thread on tfw2005.
G2 Stunticons are at $8k now, I can see it hitting $15k, if not more.
