Heh. Looks like the G2/Diaclone repaints for Sever aren't one offs. This is just sacrilege. The green Slag is one of the primary reasons I turned my back on G2.   Nooooo!!! The majesty of SLAG, the finest Dinobot to ever stalk the Savage Land, is not shaded in green. Green makes him look like an oddly coloured knock off designed purely for five year olds to mash into Thomas the Tank Engine wooden train toys. Green is not the colour of someone who can shoot a 3000 degree flame 80 feet from his mouth. He may well shatter brick buildings with his head, oh yes indeed, but the Incredible Hulk he is not.
Green != Slag.

I'm with Pinwig here. G2 is fun, but its an oddity. A crazy coloured oddity. G1/'The Transformers' is the default, the norm. G2 is a line for people to get characters coloured crazy.

Phew. I thought I might have been on my own with that one.
So it's gunfight at the Dinobot Coral.
In the interests of balance I've just been discussing this with Sever, and he is of the opinion that the G2 red version of his mould is actually quite nice. I did agree. But only because he's waving a large sword at me and he still has his grumpy face on.

I DO feel that Slag and Snarl should have been reversed. Slag red, and Snarl green.
'Cause I think of Stegosaurs as green more than trikes.
But it doesn't matter. G2 is what it is, and changes for the rational means it's no longer G2.

G2 Slag was my Slag for a lot of years, until I picked an original one up at Botcon 2007. I think he was the last original Dinobot I bought- Swoop came from eBay a few years before.
I'm in no hurry to drop three figures on a gigantic version of G2 Slag, but I'm glad it exists.

Despite being green, Slag was the weakest of the G2 Dinobots. Grimlock looked great, Snarl quite nice. Jetty might be right, red Slag and green Snarl might have worked better.
Still wish Sludge and Swoop had gotten their G2 releases too.

What colours would they have been? Yellow for Sludge, maybe, but then what? Orange for Swoop? Purple? He didn't actually have that much grey plastic- only on his forearms and legs. The rest is either chrome or red paint.

We know what colours thy are, there's card art in the box art book of them and a second, tiger striped, Grimlock.
Google G2 Swoop and there's pictures and some rather good customs. Swoop is bright Green/pale Blue and Sludge is Orangey Red and Dark Blue.
Swoop is proper G2.
