That is genuinely beautiful, in a way that somehow isn't quite captured by the CW version.

An orange 911?!?! What kind of disguise is that?!?! Far more conspicuous than a 911 with racing stripes and a big '4' on it, with an interior that looks like C-3PO's bathroom (according to Man of Iron, anyway)!!!

Why has the original Laser Rod Op never been done in the original Op colours?
The Spychanger has, the re-imagined Titans version looks like it will be but the original? No.

So a conversation I had tonight as I was explaining to someone that G2 Sideswipe's colors are just a palette swap from his G1 deco led me to a realization.
I started wondering why Sideswipe was the only in his assortment to have such a dramatic deco change? Jazz and Inferno weren't changed at all. And it hit me. Because Inferno was red. They wanted all the toys in the assortment to look different on store shelves, just like the minibots.
We know Hubcap was changed to red because he would be identical to Bumblebee. But Beachcomber was also changed to green, because Seaspray was blue. Yellow, Red, Blue, and Green, instead of Yellow, Yellow, Blue, and Blue.
I realized then this is the logic behind not only Sideswipe, but Ramjet. Sideswipe and Ramjet were changed to black, because Inferno is red and Starscream is (off)white.

I bet you anything thats it for ramjet, too. It may even be the reason why Starscream diverges so much, so they could try to keep ramjet white. But decided they would still be too similar.
It's easy enough to realize they chose a "conehead" instead of skywarp or thundercracker, because of the tooling. But it always puzzled me why they chose Ramjet over Thrust or Dirge. My best guess is his tooling was the most convenient. They either couldn't find the others, or they didn't survive.

Which begs the question that if they wanted to keep Ramjet white, then why not just change Starscream to white in the first place? If they'd stayed with something closer to his original colours, or gone with something else for him like the black-gold scheme which they looked at for a possible redeco then he wouldn't have clashed with Ramjet. Of course, then we wouldn't have got purple Ramjet, so it would have been our loss in that case. Karl
