I am delighted to informally announce that the BIRMINGHAM INFORMAL GATHERING 4 is to take place on Saturday 13 October 2012. In Birmingham. As usual, we can meet at Birmingham New Street Station around 10 a.m. and then enjoy a relaxed, informal day/night of seeing what takes our fancy and light hearted camaraderie! Should it appeal, and this is entirely optional, we can pop along to the Birmingham Zine Festival. This is on all weekend at the Southside, which is just around the corner from the Ibis hotel in Chinatown. Their web site is here: www.birminghamzinefestival.com/ [No mention of admission fees, I've noticed. So not sure if it's free entry or not.] Everyone is welcome! If you're coming along please let me know either in this thread, or on Twitter (@graham35t) or via email and we can swap mobile phones. I hope to see you (and you) there! EDIT: The Ibis is currently showing £55 for the night on 13 October: www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-1459-ibis-birmingham-city-centre/index.shtml
I'm sure there's cheaper, such as the ETAP, but I guess it all depends how much you value rectal continuity.EDIT 2: The ETAP is now "Ibis Budget" and £49 for a triple room, which is excellent value at £16 each! www.etaphotel.com/gb/booking/rates.shtml?packId=11497559998EDIT 3: Just heard back from the 'zine festival organiser on Twitter, and it's free entry. Yay!EDIT 4: We're gonna do a 'zine for it! More details here: tmukhub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fanzines&action=display&thread=6724

Hmmm, I am already committed to a LEGO show/Uncle Phil visit the weekend before and have a DW con three weekends after so not sure I can afford it. I would have to come down Saturday afternoon and probably stay in the ETAP. I'll have to see if the pennies can stretch.

Just checked the prices, it's about £16 a night based on 3 people sharing a room.
It wouldn't be the same without you, Ralph.

I'll be there. I think the Ibis we stayed in for one of the previous BIGs was really near the Etap, I guess all hotels have to be called Ibis nowadays.

I wonder if the Rapecave has a Rapephone in the lobby.....
Not sure if I will be able to make BiG. It will depend on things like leave, and how I am placed for cash after accounting for things that need to be done to the house and whatnot. We shall see what we shall see nearer the time.

There's a slim chance I'll be in Australia when this happens, but if I am still here in the UK I shall try my utmost to pop along!

I won't be there this year - but I had a blast last year (when myself and Tony happened to be in Brum) - hope those lucky enough to attend have a great time!

It's exactly a onemonth until #BIG4!
I'm booking my tickets and room later today. I will most likely be staying Birmingham on both Friday and Saturday night.
Hope to see you (pl.) there!

Still expect to attend, probably just on the Saturday. Should be able to get into New Street for 10am, and depart again 8.30pm.

I still need to have a look into this and see whether it is feasible on a budgetary level. I shall look into it and make a decision at the beginning of the week methinks.
