I am just trying to decide the best way to travel to AA.
I can either get an open return train journey from Kilmarnock to Birmingham International, that will cost £119 or the other option is make my own way to Glasgow, get a Megabus to Birmingham, then figure out a way from Birmingham bus station to the venue. Mega bus will cost between £27 and £48 return.
Problems being at the time of booking the hotel room, the AA rate wasn't available for Thursday night so I only have a room booked for Friday to Sunday night. So I shall either arrive in Birmingham at 16:30 Thursday, 03:55 Friday morning or 16:30 Friday afternoon. Decisions decisions.

I still don't have the days of work booked yet. I tried to book the days off last week yet the company I work for changed the way holidays were booked. I wasn't even notified of the change. Long story short I have been requesting them to provide me with a holiday application form for a week now, and the morons still can't provide one. I am just writing a letter to them now to let them know if they can't supply me with teh documentation for their own procedure, I shall be taking the days off.
I really hate my job.

We should be updating everyone about hotel accomodation shortly including availablity of rooms as there have been some issues recently, so keep an eye on the website and your in-boxes for those of you who have already booked!
Ticket wise, we're a couple of people short of 500 so far which puts us about 15% up on this point last year at the moment. Anyone want to spread the word and help us get up to 1,000? Joking aside, it could well happen...!

We were hoping to get some printed a while ago but we've had a lot of guests that we've only just been able to announce this year so it's been tough getting them arranged. I'm going to be sending some to print during the week though now we've finished adding guests, so if you can PM me an address and I'll get some sent to you. Cheers!

I did not enjoy my Hilton experience and have no desire to give them my business again. There are other hotels nearby or Birmingham Centre isn't too far away.

I say pretty much sold out as I think there are still rooms available on the saturday, and I assume, the thursday for those that come down earlier, but yeah the friday sold out. But also, I reckon with the event still two odd months away rooms might become available again at some point.

I sorted out a room at the City Centre Comfort Inn near New St station for a very reasonable price on laterooms.com just now. £145 for 4 nights and easy access to the brief train ride to the NEC beside the con hotel. Hooray!

The one we stayed in Chinatown weren't bad.
I'd still not go near the RC Ibis!

It was too far anyway. I needed something within quick staggering distance of New St Station. This does mean I will be able to check the Lift Of Terror every day though...

There is an Etap over at the Airport that is doing rooms for about £44 a night (through trivago.co.uk) right now. The Crowne Plaza (the nearest hotel to the Hilton) is sold out and I'm trying to get a discount at other nearby hotels as well at the moment but it's mental right now.
Our plan for 2014 is to *try* to get most, if not all of the Hilton reserved for us for the weekend but if we can secure that it will need attendees to book rooms earlier or we'll have to have the rooms released back for general sale.

Just booked my room - am gutted that the Friday has sold out, but have secured a room for Saturday night at least. (I don't suppose anyone has ended up with a double room for Friday but has no one to share it with?)

When I booked my room a fortnight ago, I was a bit disappointed that there was a suite available at the same price as a single, but which sold out before I was able to complete the booking. Now I'm glad that I've got a room at all, seeing as the hotel's sold out so soon after I booked!

Have now booked a room for Sunday night (every year I wished I'd done this so it will make up for the lack of a Friday night). Looking forward to it!
