Much hokey enjoyment recently courtesy of Radio 4 Extra in THE PRICE OF FEAR, in which Vincent Price claims to have had mad crap tales of horror while jetting around the world inbetween making films. The one with the evil painting that makes people kill was especially daft/entertaining. -Ralph THE PRICE OF FEAR is back on Radio 4/Radio Iplayer/BBC Sounds. It remains enjoyable hokum. -Ralph

An episode of THE PRICE OF FEAR I listened to last night had a CHRISTOPHER BIDMEAD in it. It was produced in 1973. IIRC Bidmead of Doctor Who script editor fame was an actor at that time so it could be him!!! The episode was 'THE WAXWORK'. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007jnd6Alas, IMBD is shit for things like radio credits. PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE NEED YOUR SKILLS!!!!! -Ralph

The Vincent Price story is ringing a vague bell now, did he tell it on Who's Round?

Absolutely beautiful drama on the Iplayer: SEA LONGING. Hard to describe but uses selkie mythology alongside a family drama to produce something genuinely original. Most affecting drama I've come across in a while and it looks brilliant (in that special radio way). Got me fair welling up at the end.

On the BBC is a dramatisation of NEIL GAIMON'S NORSE MYTHOLOGY. Hadn't got round to the book but downloaded the adaptation to listen to. Great cast!

That was their big Christmas drama. They've done Neil Gaiman adaptations at Christmas for about four years now. I'm not sure what the association is!

The Miniaturist is on 'Book at Bedtime'. I'm currently at the halfway stage (episode 5). I am struggling to see how this became a literary sensation. Does something amazing happen in the second half?

GOOD SERIES.
That one I've had in the archive for many years, but I was pleased to be able to upgrade the quality with this newer broadcast. There are quite a few sci-fi serials of that style that have surfaced over the years.

The BBC currently has up a production of Billy's RICHARD II recorded in 'binaural' sound from when they experimented with the format in 2017. The only other thing I am aware they also did in that format was the 'KNOCK KNOCK' episode of Doctor Who.

After it was broadcast there were four different versions of it available to download, each of which had different depths of field in the sound iirc. Checking my own archive I kept version one. Why, I do not remember.

Maybe I don't have the right equipment? Good version of Richard II though! Pinwig, SPACE FORCE is back up! -Ralph
