I wish my work would issue my leave card for the new leave year, I am developing a list of things I want to book time off for - RAF Fairford airshow, two weeks in Gurnsey with the family, AA2013, the Swindon LEGO show.... Karl Was going to mention Fairford...... When would you like a sofa?

Was going to mention Fairford...... When would you like a sofa? Ta for the kind offer - I may very well indeed take you up on that. I will think on the details and let you know once I have the chance to coordinate my leave and what not (and get the tickets booked come the day of pay for that matter!)

Mmm. Bit too far in the future. I hope for a Death Fortress/Cardiff Doctor Who Experience fly-by earlier than that...

I hope for a Death Fortress/Cardiff Doctor Who Experience fly-by earlier than that... Not fan enough to go on my own but I think I'd enjoy visiting the DWE in enthusiastic company. Martin

I never did the DWE in London so would be keen to go.

Well this would be far enough after my (hopefully) NI jaunt for my birthday so I could make some kind of trip to the DWE with folk in July. And I did miss out on a Cardiff jaunt last year.

I don't think I'll be in a position to take more than the Friday and Monday around that weekend in terms of leave, so sadly I'd have to bow out of the Cardiff trip and head back up to Scotland on the Monday morning. Shame, I'd like to do the revised DWE at some point and I am fond of Cardiff for obvious reasons, but needs must.

Well I am thinking of coming to the vicinity of the Death Fortress on the Friday and Cardiffing it on the Sat with a return trip to the Burger on the Monday.

It is my intention to do the Saturday and Sunday at Fairford (it is a big show - last year I needed one day for the flying display and the other for a leisurely exploration of the Static park and for lots of (not terrible competent photography). But it would work out reasonably well - we could travel down together on the Friday, divide our forces on the Saturday and reconvene on the Saturday evening. (Not sure if the airshow factors into your plans at all but if you just wanted to do the Sunday you'd probably not miss out on much - the flying display is generally most of the same stuff but in a different order).

Indeed.
I'd pass on the airshow. I enjoyed the 3 hour one at the flight museum and would go to that again but a full weekend of planes is too hardcore for me! I will instead journey into space and time aboard the TARDIS!

My annual leave has been secured for the Friday and Monday around that weekend. Got out new leave cards the middle of this week and I fired in my leave requests for this and my two weeks in the Channel Islands very swiftly indeed.

Entrance Tickets for the airshow days have been booked, and a check of the confirmed aircraft page revealed that Vulcan XH558 - the last flying Vulcan anywhere in the world is confirmed for the flying display. Likely my last chance to see her in the air as I suspect that she won't make it up to East Fortune on her last year in the air.

Burns and Thurgood have confirmed their travel. As before, I will be skipping the air show and my mission is to get Phil to the DWE on the Saturday.

The tickets for the Robot Trains have arrived this weekend and been stowed safely with my weekend Airshow tickets. Phil, I shall email you momentarily with our travel plans.
Beware if you steal the TARDIS whilst you are down at the DWE - I hear tell that she has a few malfunctions and I'm not sure whether her Space-Time Worthiness Certificate is up to date....

In exactly 1 week there will be representatives of team Scotland in Swindon.
I'm armed with train & exhibition tickets, a small pile of gifts and some interesting things to watch.
