Are we in some alternate universe where the WHO just made Mugabe a GOODWILL Ambassador? I think I saw that on the news but that can't be real! -Ralph Appointed, and swiftly un-appointed. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-41713919Martin

That has the ring of an appointment made by someone rather out of touch with the real-world... and whom was swiftly told "fix it!" when the inevitable happened. (There are days when it feels like parts of the UN are like some sort of demented "The Thick of it" LARP...

May has zero authority, which is shown by allowing a resignation rather than firing the errant MP on the spot.

Patel's resignation letter made me shake my head. No mention of her wrong doing she has done (the many undisclosed meetings nor the lying to cover them up) and she still lectures on how the UK will be amazeballs post Brexit.
She should've been fired the moment it came out she was having undisclosed meetings with Heads of State.

Her very pleased expression says it all when she left Downing St, but then we are talking about someone who previously stated that she wanted the death penalty back.

She was grinning as she arrived. She had a plan to deal with May.

I'm not getting the impression she realises just how badly she cocked up. Sad.

She probably doesn't.
Or doesn't care.
Still, it's a sign of how lacking in any power that Theresa May has that she didn't sack her straight away, for behaviour and conduct has seen others arrested in the past.
Boris meanwhile, is doing everything he can to be sacked, but May won't do it. He's desperate to be sacked before Brexit goes through, so he can stage a leadership bid afterwards free of the taint of having a hand on the wheel when we go over the cliff.

I note we have a new Universities Minister rather than a Universities and Science Minister as before... Clearly we've had enough of experts driving the economy of tomorrow.

It would help if politicians didn't use it as an opportunity for self serving sound bites rather than any apparent desire to offer anything constructive.

Just in case anyone was being serious Lol. The thing is the Lib Dem candidate for NES last GE was an absolute joke, no way they were going to pull back any of the Tory votes to weaken Rees Mogg's grip on the constituency, so we're stuck with him.
