Well I have voted. More a case of trying to figure out 'the least worst' rather than actually being impressed by any party standing.

In any other constituency I would laugh. Here they may siphon off enough votes to let Johnson stay in. Not a risk we should be taking this time round.

Johnson is a man too frightened to be interviewed by his former boss on the BBC. If he can't handle a half hour interview he shouldn't in charge of anything.

I voted a week back. Got it over with. Only one party is likely to unseat the tories here: Similar boat here - except a little bit closer, there is only a 400ish vote gap between Tories and Labour. I will be voting on my way to work on Thursday - polling station is the local pub, literally on the opposite side of the T-junction to my flat. So I just need to leave a little early, go in, and mark my cross to my bit to try to rid us of perfidious and vile Conservative rule.* Karl * - I am apparently at the angry end of my current mood-swings, I spent most of today oscillating between righteous anger, and slough-ful despond at the state of this country, the state of politics and what feels like the probable loss of every positive step-forward we've seen since the 1980s. It has been a bit wearying.

Will be voting early on Thursday here as well. Provided the boiler man doesn't come first thing.
Received a Brexit Party leaflet personally addressed to me today. Apparently as a Leave voter I shouldn't miss out! Their research on me is somewhat... faulty. Like their policies.

The next year will be interesting.
The DUP have been smashed and the ERG are now irrelevant because Boris's majority is massive and he doesn't need them any more. He can do as he chooses. If he decides that for the sake of his legacy his priority is not to be a PM who presides over a hard/no-deal Brexit that is seen to be damaging to business, and not to preside over the break-up of the UK... he has a lot of latitude now to pursue an agenda other than the one in the rhetoric that got him where he is now.
I may be wrong, but I think a no-deal/hard Brexit is now far less likely than it would be if Boris only had a slim majority with the ERG and DUP holding the balance of power. (Which is why I said it could be worse.)
We'll see...
Martin (Lib Dem voter!)

Scottis independence within 5 years seems pretty inevitable now. Maybe, maybe not. I think it would be more inevitable if Boris had a narrow majority dictating that he pursue a hard Brexit. If his priority is implementing policies that win over / mollify undecided Scottish voters and reduce the support for independence / the SNP, he has a big enough majority to push such policies through Parliament at the expense of clean-break Brexit, if he so chooses. He's fickle, and if I were a hard Brexiteer the scale of Boris's win would worry me. I could be wrong. Let's see what he does with Rees-Mogg in the reshuffle. Martin

PS Pyrrhic victory for parties supporting no Brexit or a second Brexit referendum - they won more than 50% of the votes. Labour + Lib Dem votes exceeded Tory votes.
Silly first past the post system.
Ironically, Nigel Farage supports proportional representation.

Martin Never understimate how hated the Tories are in Scotland. It is deep rooted, especially since the Poll Tax. Once Johnson takes a country (Scotland) out of the EU against its will (a country that depends on the EU for its economic and social structure) the SNP will be emboldened as never before and all bets are off. -Ralph

Derby South is a Labour hold, and I guess we can be glad of that, at least.
I am not terribly enthused about where the country goes from here though.

Labour hold in my area. A slight reduction in vote share for Tories here but Brexit Party took a massive chunk out of what had been an increasing Labour lead here over the last few elections. Greens and Lib Dems made zero effort here. Didn't even get a leaflet so had no idea who my local candidates were from those parties. Tory candidate was coming from Leeds.
As Martin says Boris has latitude to go softer on Brexit now. But will he? ERG has been made very influential in the party now and Cummings is still in place. We can only hope the various criminal investigations into these people take them rightly down.
Brexit and trade deals will not improve though. The government will soon find it is not as easy as they'd like. Plus the next five years of increased cuts to the poor and tax breaks for the rich will brew up a storm they can't hide from. And the upcoming fight for Scottish Independence will tie up and deepen divisions in the UK even more.
Fun times.
UK. What were you thinking?
