Labour would really have to make some truly colossal blunders in order to lose the next general election.

I will never stop being angry about that man. Everytime he rails against the report, he is spitting in the face of everyone who obeyed (and suffered) from following the covid rules. I just can't stop being upset by it.

I think I am still processing a certain level of grief, sadness and rage at the moment. There are so many people that this is going to hurt, potentially even kill. The damage of even a normal Presidency run by the kind of people that stand behind Trump would be bad enough. But given that the people who are riding his coat-tails into power are intent on dismantling the US political system in favor of even less freedoms I'm anticipating that this could be quite brutal for anyone who doesn't fit a narrow definition of "Righteous True Americans".
I'm trying not to swear on the Internet in general, but this is making it really difficult.

Disappointing but sadly unsurprising.
And today in Germany we wake to the news that the coalition government has collapsed and there's likely to be early elections in the new year. Very disturbing considering how the AfD have been gaining ground.

Loose change for them has generated a big return.
I'm sure that had zero to do with their activities during the election.

Yeah, the people who stand to benefit from a lack of government oversight and greater opportunities to cut corners and harm people in pursuit of a quick buck are going to make out like bandits from this. (And really that isn't even much of a metaphor. The tech industry is fundamentally the same kind of people as the railroad tycoons of the late 1800s - laws are an impediment to them seizing more wealth, and are therefore to be ignored, circumvented, subverted or destroyed.). So they are quite happy whenever they can arrange things so they are in the class that is protected by laws but not bound by them.
