Michael Gove! You should have done your stabby-in-the-back thing on Liz Truss several weeks ago when it might have done some good! It's too late now!

Is the Government collapsing again? Do you mean again or still? Chancellor dear, would you mind awfully just stepping back to the UK for a minute? Your best friend the Prime Minister, whose leadership policies you have been following, and whose views are in perfect harmony with your own, would like a quiet word with you. Martin

I... I need to keep laughing at them- the chimps in their trees, the lunatics in their halls. The precious little maniacs. Because if I didn't laugh, I'd ... I'd be really worried for my children and stuff.

I think he knows he wouldn't win and the last thing he wants is to come second to one of his own cabinet. Besides, if he has any common sense at all he'd know him being back at the top would shrink the conservatives' credibility even further than it already has been.
What *is* going on. Is this the start of the descent into madness? Or will history look back on this time as being a political aberration? I just can't see how we get out of this.

I'm not sure Boris has anything other than what's best for Boris in mind. Tpry Credibility is nowhere near it. What *is* going on. Is this the start of the descent into madness? Or will history look back on this time as being a political aberration? I just can't see how we get out of this. Not sure I see the torys getting out of it without a party split. I can't see them winning next time though I think Sunak will be more competent than Truss or Johnson

Alexander B deP Johnson has never had anything other than what was good for him in mind. This was obvious from as far back as his period as Mayor of London. His alliance with the Neo-Libertarian wing of the Conservative Party was very much about "Quite right, the rich are the right sort of chaps and should be monarchs of their own domains. I happen to be a rich chap myself," rather than a genuine ideological attachment to the Randian exceptionalism of Truss and Kwartengs cult roots. Much more a fellow traveler than a genuine believer in their Randian Superhuman ideology.
I'm glad to see him withdraw for the race. If he had been in and won, we would have to face the facts that we were on a level with Berlisconi's Italy. On the other hand, this makes it very likely that it is going to be Sunak, and he can do a lot of damage to the quality of life and rights of the majority of the British people before the next election. This was always very much a "whoever wins, we lose".

He either didnt have the 100 votes or he realised it would be an absolute disaster and his ego wouldnt let him do it.
Its almost a shame. His credibility is shot so he wouldnt have improved their chances at the next election, probably would have made them worse, but as a populist he might, might have avoided at least some of the austerity cuts that are coming.

As someone who has experienced serious and sustained bullying at multiple previous employers, I have found the reaction of Raab and his allies to the report extremely distressing. The behaviour exhibited reminds me so much of bullies from the past. I am still affected by their behaviour on a daily basis, even decades later.
