It boggles the mind that a Prime Minister is caught breaking laws that literally everyone in the country had to follow at the same time...and he's still in a job.

Boris' mad urge to get rid of all restrictions and so on this week a month early always looked idiotic, but takes on a a special level of lunacy when he does it at the same time as the Queen gets covid. The optics do not look good.

He's got to keep his insane backbenchers happy somehow.
Lord only knows how those nutters keep getting elected.

Apparently we now live in a country where the PM can break their own laws (as judged by the police)...and nothing happens.

Fingers crossed we get rid of our last Tory councillor today.
We got rid of the other one last year. Well technically I think he had resigned and was contemplating going to Canada I believe. But his replacement lost.
Anyway one down, one to go.

I am very nervous that the public will be idiots again and vote the Tories back in. It's like turkeys voting for Christmas.

Boris won. 148 voted against, 32 shy of getting shot of him. Spineless bastards.
Turns out you can break the law and nothing happens if you're in charge.

It's the death of a 1000 cuts for Boris, I didn't think he would be ousted tonight, but this isn't going away, another two by-elections coming up and 1 is an almost certain defeat.

Probably for the best. Tories are going to Tory for the next two years whoever is in charge. At least while its Johnson they'll be distracted by in fighting and hopefully increasing the size of their losses next election.

It's not enough for Boris to go. I want Rees-Mogg, Truss and Patel to go down with him. None of them should ever be let near the Cabinet ever again.

Surprised Gove remains apparently loyal. I'd have thought he'd be one to avoid going down with the ship.
Unless he's calculating precisely when to give the already sinking ship an extra scuttling and grab the last seat in the lifeboat.

I got a text from my Mum yesterday saying "Boris could be gone v. soon."
My response: We'll see.
About an hour and a few more resignations later: Boris might be in trouble.
He's gonna be dragged out screaming and kicking, but it's a surreal experience watching the British Government collapse via text and the BBC News app.

BBC News website has been riveting.
If he doesn't resign tonight I reckon the 1922 committee will change their rules regarding no confidence votes and a no confidence vote will happen next week.

Oh I dont disagree, but its the whole party and seeing them crushed, losing most of their seats achieves that more effectively.
