Got mine today!
I would absolutely hate this in the G1 flavor, for all the reasons I thought I would.
An ugly sculpt, completely undynamic. Boxy and very squared, devoid of any contours that the original sideswipe toy had. It's oversized, and simply does not do anything that Universe Sideswipe doesn't do better. Just... Completely pointless.
However, all these traits that work against the main release just... Only help to NAIL G2 Sideswipe.
It all just helps to push him over the top, coupled with the fabulous Yanager headsculpt, spikey shoulder tires, absurd guns, and machete. His size isnt even that detracting in a G2 display.
It's funny how something could be so wrong in one way, but so right in another.
Love him.

This morning we discovered that the Angry Bot's sword was missing.
He looked very angry about this. He looked very angry a little boy who had been playing with him and was probably responsible for said sword being missing.
After turning the room out and pulling out boxes I found the sword. I'm sure he is very grateful but he still looks angry.

The previous post is an old CG2 reference. Nick Roache's back cover art response to Martin's original Sideswipe On a Good Day picture. You can really read the rage from it. I keep meaning to scan it.
