It's a dangerous time. It's Christmas. It's a time to give in to temptation I think and pick up the pieces in the new year. Just read MP Magnus is due inside ten days. Oh lordy. I am still so torn about Magnus. It's not the toy I wanted it to be and it's not just the bottom flapping. But I do still like it. I think though that I'll wait either for a Powered Convoy Takara release (please dont be some super expensive exclusive) or for Hasbro to release it. Without licensing issues I'm expecting it next year at least in the US. |

I've been doing big time ebay selling through the Autumn to generate funds for what I knew would be an expensive Christmas, so I'm really just recycling tat into new toys. I've got Magnus pre-ordered, he's fine as he is for me. I've not really got any interest in Star Sabre or Exhaust, so Magnus is what I'm waiting for.

From those photos it looks like the flap (cab roof) will lift up and sit back on the cab. I can't wait. Hoping for a shipping notice on Monday.

I do not find it very offensive at all actually. You can't really see it when viewed from the front, it doesn't take away when viewed from the back.
Also, you can fold it up so it sits in line with the rest of the gubbins on his back if you don't fancy a flap!

I will endeavour to do some closeups of the flappage this weekend Shockprowl. Dezzeh is exactly right, it does fold up, which means in profile it sticks out a bit, but looked at from the front you don't even see it.

See thats were I'm still put off, I honestly dont believe a toy that large should have gubbins. The designer has ditched the major gimmick of the toy and gone all out on cartoon accuracy, even so far as to my mind stupid choices like red bumpers. If you do that I want the toy to look cartoon accurate from all sides. The back just doesn't. I am absolutely certain that when I inevitably have a version of Magnus in my hands I will love it as much as I do Bee, which I also thought looked compromised from the photos, but Magnus is so large I can't help thinking it could have been neater. |

After having a play with Magnus I needed to reorganise the MP display case shelves to fit him in and decided to take MP Rodimus down and get him into car mode.
Whilst it's true that Rodimus is a work of engineering genius, I just didn't have fun. Magnus on the other hand I did have fun with and there are still little tricks in the transformation that surprised me.
He's big bulky and his torso has a good proportion to it thanks to the transformation. He looks great in both modes, save for the flap, which I'll concede could have simply been split into two so that it folds up around. I don't think this wouldn't have disrupted the cab roof too much either.
So yeah, after the joy of Bumblebee, to then get this guy in the same week... Good times.
