Maybe it's the Seibertron crowd. I ventured into the comments on TFW out of curiosity where opinion is a bit more divided. Still some utter nonsense in there, but a surprising amount of enthusiasm and a few "I see what they're going for but it isn't for me"s, which I can respect.
Overall though, a good lesson in why I don't often venture into those places!

Those comments are awful. I can't believe so many people are literally illiterate When the site owner is bitching about it, I wonder why he posted it. Oh, I know why. Click bait. -Ralph

I did the same and was quite surprised at the mix of views, as I was expecting worse than the Seibertron views to be honest.
I can totally see why it wont be to everyone taste, I don't know for sure it will be mine in the long term, but the level of hysteria when anything new of different is attempted still shocks and confuses me for some reason. IDW will be putting out 4 regular comics while this is being published, plus minis, digital only, spotlights and movie tie ins. (try as we might lets not forget TFCC are producing comics too as are Titan) The only time you could have gotten close to that many issues a month was if you got the UK weekly and the US monthly back in the 80s and even then you'd only have been getting 10 or 20% of the current pages of story. If you dont like it go read one of the other products.
Anyway.

How come Rob Liefield is now doing a few Transformers covers? I guess IDW are paying him top rates. IDW where asking UK artist to do covers for them & not to pay them for doing the cover. {I'll not state which artist or for which title but IDW wanting some covers doing but where not going to pay the artist to do them}

The FCBD issue has been ordered from my usual online store as I don't expect to be able to get it locally. Will fire in a pre-order for #1 when available.
Can't wait!

Is there anything in the Free comicbook day edition that won't be in the regular issues? Just wondering as I haven't sourced a copy yet.

I'm getting mine from Leeds comic shops - or can go to Sheffield/York if all gone.

My copy came today. Loved it. Fecking loved it. Loads of backmatter too.
Needs to be read on paper, not digital. Old comic hands will understand when they see it.

Anyone decoded the page at the back? The top says Leader Optimus Prime - then it gets confusing at the bottom because all the letters seem to be P. Also the bit at the bottom - not sure if there is 2 letters or one because of them being so close together.

Not bad. I've finished with my copy, so in the spirit of free comic book day, if anyone wants it let me know.

Read this last night and loved it; so evocative of 80's titles right down to the artificially yellowed pages. It's like a mash up of the original TF/Joe crossover and a Brendan McCarthy 2000AD strip. Best TF crossover since Ancient Relics, a real nostalgic retro high. More!

It is fantastic, I let M and Karl read my copy on Saturday and both thoroughly approved.

Oh indeed. It was absolutely bonkers, and pedal-to-the-metal as far as the pacing. The art, page design and colour-work was like someone had just cranked up retro to Eleven. Brilliantly entertaining, and really brought back the feeling of being six years old and reading Stan and Jack, or Bob Haney. That sense of anything at all could happen next, but whatever it is it will be astounding and larger-than-life.
(And also some really clever ideas thrown in there before, one or two things that we don't often see done with Transformers). I've no idea if the ongoing will be able to sustain this mad, bonkers energy, but I am looking forward to seeing them try.)

Very Radio Rental. I don't think everyone will get it but it's worth a trade buy from me.

I really hope this gets a fair crack of the whip, but apart from here I've only seen negative reactions to the fcbd one. So many people just seem to have missed the point.

I can certainly see the Kirby comparison, but I found it more reminiscent of what might have been, had there been an actual early 80s TF/Joe toy series with pack-in comics.
I loved it, by the way.

Oh and what a wonderful world that would have been.
It's shaping up to be a very interesting series based on that zero issue plus the interviews and supplementary material.
I think it will become my favourite TF book.

With the IDW stuff I switched from individual issues to trades after All Hail Megatron, mostly for space and cost reasons, but bought individual issues for Regen one to go with the originals. I'm looking at that and thinking about the FCBD taster and I've come to the conclusion this title needs to be bought as a comic, because it's supposed to be a comic. Buying this in trades would spoil the fun.

I will be double dipping on this one, I agree it needs to be bought as and when it comes out but damn if I don't want the trades on my shelf displayed proudly!
