The Desperate Hours.
Unbeatable comedy gold.

With an easy Pat Gorman spot at the start - he's the prison officer in the gents.
I prefer No Way Out personally, but both are really good

Porridge. Phil mentions these two eps frequently at this time of year.

Jesus can you imagine that. Your head would explode.
No Way Out is the one you watched two years back on your run through BBC specials. Desperate Hours was the one after. Last page of this thread.

Porridge. Phil mentions these two eps frequently at this time of year. They are very VERY good. Even Ralph thought so Best Christmas Special ever? It is rather good.

It's very noticeable watching Ronnie Barker comedy that the hit rate for jokes is relentless. It's so funny and so fast. You are laughing almost constantly. Compare that to what we get these days, stuff like Not Going Out, and you're lucky if you get a chortle per series.

I'm looking at Ralph's 2021 list thinking I need to watch a fair few of those this week.

It is. Although I do often wonder if it's because I'm getting old. Young people's comedy, like the bbc3 stuff, does not appeal to me. But then Blackadder and The Young Ones never appealed to my dad.
Over the last few years I think the only things I've really liked and looked forward to are Upstart Crow and Ghosts.
