I'm up for the new Terrorsaur and Cruellock. The rest can be quietly ignored.

No no, we're talking about the Grimlock who combined into Mega Dinobot. *palms face* oops. Never mind. As you were. But my comments about Cruellock's sword stand anyways. Karl

No Deluxe or Voyagers form Argos Legion assortment: I'm guessing those are the small figures, pictured here

No deluxes? That's... odd.

Post by Pinwig on May 10, 2014 18:13:21 GMT
Those are the ones I'd buy. The deluxes especially look good. Wonder if they're exclusive to TRU here. Argos claimed they have their own exclusives but from that list I wouldn't know what. Don't think there's anything there I'd buy even at sale prices.

The Legions are potentially exclusives, they were shown with other exclusives this week.

If so, surely there's a good chance the deluxes would be exclusives to someone else. They can't not bring them out here, they look great!

Do you think we are going to get a set of toys with TF4 paint jobs? So white EM Prime & grey Grimlock.
I do think we are going to get Hound in Kup colours.

Today Burns saw the Legends and was disappointed. They have a long and complicated history: Bumblebee starts off in Universe 2, Prime and Starscream in RTS. Bumblebee was repainted a few times, but the version here appears to be the TRU DOTM one. Prime and SS were given a more acurate deco for Japan's EZ Collection. Prime and SS, plus the DOTM BB with the symbol moved to the door/arm were used on a dollar store wave that also included tank Megs. Nick saw it while in the US. There's a second version of this wave with the modified GDO molds so Prime gets a Sword and Starscream gets null rays. This third version showed at $ stores in the US a few months ago. It's the modified Prime & SS GDO molds - look at the hands, a 3mm Cyberverse clip - but no weapons. The loss of the weapons is a big blow. What these are doing here on general distribution with a movie line is anyone guess. Yes it's be nice to have Op & SS which can hold Cyberverse guns but at £6 these are gonna shelf warm and end up in the bargain bins. I'm a Legends completist and they don't interest me in the slightest

They are doing quite a nice job on the TF4 Dinobots, both of these look pretty cool. I always think of Sludge more as the gentle giant type and the Slog design goes rather the opposite route but does it with some aplomb. You really wouldn't want to mess with him.
If Takara gives Snarl a more metallic paint job on the plain plastic parts to live up to Hasbro's marketing images I'd probably go for it.

I do quite like the look of Slog there - he's definitely very shiny. I'm not sure about Sludge. In dino-mode he looks like a Zoid, which is no bad thing, really, except that he doesn't transform into a Zoid. I think the design is mucking with my expectations too much.

Excellent move to make Sludge a voyager. That will make those a lovely ensemble piece. I've never liked the movie designs and still don't with the cars I've seen from this range, but it works really well with the dinosaurs. Knowing all five have decent toys... Sold. But I'm not buying any others! I almost have principles!

Haaaaang on, slow coach here has just realised something. Six Dinobots?
Edit: OK, so I was thinking Scorn was the new Snarl. But now there is a Snarl. Six dinos, fancy that. So is Scorn derived from a previous character? Not BW dinobot, he was a raptor.

Seven dinobots. Grimlock, strafe, slug, snarl, slog, scorn , and slash.
Tyrannosaurid, pterosaur (two headed), ceratopsian, stegosaurid, titanosaurid, spinosaurid, and dromaeosaurid.

Seven seems rather a lot, are they all in the film? That's a lot of animation models. Okay, I sought out pictures of Slash. He's not as impressive as the others.
Still, seven! The family photo will look great.

I still haven't worked it out yet. Apart from ROTF Jetfire I have hated every single movie toy, but the Bayformer aesthetic just seems to work with dinosaurs. Slug and Scorn especially look great to me.

The dinosaur toys look fun even though they don't look anything like dinosaurs to my eyes. They look like mad nightmare creatures but fun mad nightmare creatures. Can't say I like the new £15 (!) deluxe price point though. May grab a few when on sale (especially the green one).

I saw quite a few of the TF4 toys in Smyths today. Not terribly impressed with what I saw - the only dinosaur they had out was the twenty-quid odd Grimlock and he didn't look terribly appealing. The rest of what they had out did not really look like they justified the price point - even the repackaged Legends, which were the only things there that I might have been tempted to buy, didn't feel like they warranted the six quid.

Scored Scorn tonight!
Really happy with him, and he is easily the second best dinosaur mold to date (top honors go to BW10/Cyb Megatron).
He also follows a nearly identical transformation, with some unique twists. (Love how his beast legs transform for his robot legs). His beast head spins around with a hand popping out of the forehead, but it's also designed that it can star just like BW Meg's. He's not without his problems. I fear for his tail, the type of plastic it's made from, it feels like it will deteriorate over the years and become sticky and goopy.
But over all, he's a great toy. Would love to see him with a new head and done as BW Megs.

Oh dear. The resolve isn't going to last long at this rate. I was at least hoping to hold out for some kind of offer on the dinos.
I saw the Legions this evening an now understand Phil's post above. Don't see how these fit into the scheme of things at all. Especially as the Generations legends are still in TRU. Why reissue G1 styled Legion figures that look worse than the ones already out?
Movie toy purchases still = 0.
