Sadly I am unlikely to be in a position to come down for this. I would have liked to have done, but I think that I am not going to be financially suitably placed to do it. I still want to try to get down to the LEGO show in Swindon, and I think that is going to have first call on anything I can scrape together for travelling costs.
A shame, if things were different I would have jumped at this I think. But it just one of those things which is not meant to be.

I think I'll be going. But still early to be sure.
I dont think theres any benefit booking early and don't think theres a limit on early bird tickets from what I was reading about the recent one. So theres no rush and if the line up changes due to cancellations you can always reconsider.
But if you're sure you want to go then theres no reason not to book now.

I fully intend going, but am holding off on buying a ticket for now, not least because the Transformers guests aren't actually listed yet, even though they were announced months ago.
Looking at the guests announced so far, which includes people from Transformers, Karate Kid and The Last Starfighter, it looks like they might be exploiting the various 30th anniversaries this year. I wonder if we'll see guests from, say, Gremlins, Nightmare on Elm Street, Terminator, Never Ending Story, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles.
I was speaking on the weekend to a dealer that attended this month's event, and who personally knows Jason Joiner. It seems that the next event may only be open to pre-purchased ticket holders on the Saturday.

I'm waiting for those details on which day the panel is on then booking my ticket & maybe hotel. But I've got to try to find that £10 single ticket Doncaster to London if it ever exists for the trains [states on east coast website] but tickets are £80 single for 3 months in advance. But i'm heading for this one even if using National express & taking 5hrs to do a 90 minute trip [10 years ago it was 90 minutes on train where its now 3hrs for same trip & on a line they are on about scrapping - being most of the trains anywhere in yorkshire area]. I've looked at some hotels in the area & some are cheap for the weekend.

Cheap tickets usually appear from 12 weeks before the journey so should be bookable in the next few weeks.
Megabus does an over night bus to and from Leeds which is quite good and cheap if its of any use.

Oh my yes, I recall Offworld and Mr Joiner. Much disgrace their at times. Still, I am very tempted by this LFCC, it's fairly local!

Fair enough, I'll do likewise. But I have now booked a no-deposit, fully-cancellable hotel room in the area from booking.com as they may be harder to secure nearer the time. Martin

I've posted a message on showmasters forums where someone had started a Bob TF panel thread asking which day & when the panel is on.
But it might be easier to ask Nick which day he is down for & then might get a quicker idea of when to go.

I've been looking around at hotels. Some places are listing stuff up at Dorms - so if we blocked booked a whole room out - then you've got an idea room would be sealed for leaving stuff there if we got a whole room for ourselves. Then some people might just stay the friday night if others staying on the saturday for the 2 days. This meaning some people could come down on the saturday then leave stuff without having to drag it round the event. Or may just travel down just for the saturday only.

I'll probably stay in one of my usual, slightly more central, hotels as I'm going to hopefully be down for a few days (there's a Richard Herring podcast recording on the Monday I can see myself going for as well.
Still not sure which day I'll be at the event itself though.

Got my ticket for the event too [ordered it anyway so £17.50 to get in at 9am]. Vault & Ult Guide for Bob to sign - but the Vault isn't holding up & I've not read it yet. The rear pages are slightly coming out & I've only been opening it at the front.

Well, I've booked my hotel for the three nights (Saturday to Monday), and the Richard Herring thing as well. I'm still holding off on actually booking for the main event though as I'm still not sure which day would be best. I'd have more time on the Sunday (book in time at the hotel isn't till 2 and realistically I won't be arriving by train much before that anyway), but if everyone here is, like primenova, only going to be around for the Saturday I can make an afternoon job of it I suppose.
I'm mildly worried none of the TF people have been added to the main site as of yet though (indeed, the comics guest section looks rather anaemic!).

Err, does anyone actually have an active link with the names of the TF guests on it? The ones earlier in this thread (and others) no longer work, and the only active ones I can find talk about the event as a whole and, as primenova says, only have three comic book guests named that have nothing to do with Transformers.

Here it is. They just moved everything once the summer con was over: www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/summer/news/229-transformersI'll edit the link in the first post. Martin

There's an ad for this on the back of Avengers United 4, out yesterday, highlighting the TF guests but using a piece of Dreamwave art!

I was lucky enough to meet Guido at Auto Assembly... well it must have been at least six years ago, and he was a friendly, nice man and I'm very pleased to have a Beast Wars Megatron sketch from him, but equally he did not speak English very well at all. The back and forth between him and his translator over what "Beast Wars Megatron" was when I asked him about the sketch I wanted would make for a very lazy sketch on a BBC 3 sitcom. I don't know if he reads the language better than he speaks it, or if he runs his IDW scripts through a translation program, but unless he's taken a master course in the last few years he's one to expect a handshake and a signature and not much else [Not that there's anything wrong with that]. It would be hilarious if everyone only went up to Larry Hama with Transformers merchandise to get signed, we should make that happen. Incidently, has everyone seen this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkPEHM38_DAI was initially very taken with the Baroness and Destro bit (for the randomness of it), but have had my mind blown by the people I assumed were cosplayers grabbed off the street turning out to be actual famous people. Vinnie Jones! Julliana More! How did they both wind up in this?

Guido's english was ok for me - he did say can I have look in when got my Genesis book signed & also the Marvel Rampage issues where Jason Cardy came over & said he's the guy who coloured them. Guido did have a good look in the book. There wasn't many people stood in his table line at the time. Must have only been about 4 people around.
Updated the first post on page one with guest list details stating dates there for currently (from website or guest themselves)

Well, I'll probably be more likely to ask him to sign my copy of the Vault rather than bring another big chunky book along with me, it's not as if he didn't write a bit of Transformers and I can wax lyrical with him about his Joe stuff as well so hopefully he won't be too offended.

I was going to pre-order tickets now that Bob's listed under "Comic creators" but if I do I think I might not get them in time, since they say they don't post them until a week before the event, and they must be signed for. As I'll be out of Cardiff for most of the week leading up to the event, that's not very helpful. I reckon I'll just buy tickets on the day. I'll be around all weekend but may not go into the convention both days, as there's only one guest I want to meet, so I'll risk the queues. Other museums in the area also beckon.

I'm not planning on getting Larry to sign my copy of the Vault because the G2 images within are only from G2 #1-12 not the Gijoe crossover issues. I know if follows on but it would be like getting Geoff Senior to sign Death's Head 2 #1 because it features Death's Head. But I need to have another look in Ult Guide. But I'm digging out Gijoe 138-142 & Wolverine #90 which I have alreday got out ready. I'm not getting Nich Roche to sign AHM #1+ with his art featured on the inside page because I'm classing that has an advert. But talking about ads - I hope James Roberts has found the 1989 colour verison of the Transformers ad we got printed B&W in the UK comic - the one with Geoff Senior art with micromasters on it - it was printed in colour in another comic.

Finally, an update! And ooh, Larry Hama! I shall book this week. I've decided to go to London and back in a day; I can't afford a hotel. I'm not sure which day yet.
Martin, there were huge queues at the Summer event and I think even people who'd pre-purchased had trouble getting in. I was told by a dealer who'd been there and personally knows Jason Joiner that for October, Saturday may be pre-purchased tickets only, and none on the door. I don't know what the current situation is. Of course, Stan Lee being at the event probably had an impact.
