I'm aiming to go to this one just to see what they do & to meet Bob the guy who set up the whole Transformers stuff. I know we don't like his last 5 issues but he had burnt himself out by this time. But remember he drew covers too

Hmmm. Already committed to Lego show in October and had planned to also go to a DW con that month but had not booked. May have to reconsider the later.
Uncle Bob...
Delbo...

Dunno how I missed this, or how the info hasn't spread further since it was announced at the beginning of March, but I'm definitely gonna go to meet Budiansky and Delbo.

Truly a gathering of a pantheon. I'd say that living in London I'd be a fool to miss it, but I'm still kicking myself over Saturday - I hope Geoff Senior gets added to the line-up...

Maybe if we book an apartment to stay at - i've been looking at hotel for the July one & seen some places do have sets of room with shared kitchen area so might be good to group book a whole block. this is alliance house n16 9qh in group of 5 flats £35 a night. i'm thinking about checking the place out for july to see what its like. link

I plan to make every effort even if I have to overnight travel. Uncle Bob and Delbo are two TF creators I have always wanted to see and may never get another chance to do so.

I've only just found out about this, it really says something about the extent to which my finger is on the pulse that it's been out there for over two months. Hugely, and worryingly, excited about Uncle Bob (which of us is going to deeply embarrass ourselves by calling him Uncle Bob to his face? Well, better than "Daddy" I suppose...), and even Delbo which surprises me as I'm not a big fan of his, but then he was a large part of the American book so there's still that childhood connection there I suppose. So I'll be adding them to the ever growing number of signitures in my copy of The Vault... And maybe (depending on cost, It's been a while since I've done a Collectormania/Memorabilia style event) one of the appropiate Titan hardbacks as well. Dark Star perhaps? Just for fun, a link to the album I've made this week (thanks to having a scanner at last) of old pictures from the start of the century of various similar things I've been too (and also the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith premier. Which was more entertaining than the actual film wound up being): www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152358155364219.1073741831.611524218&type=1&l=d8c77a9709If only I'd warned Bill offa Kill Bill about the whole wanking in a cupboard thing.

Poor management by the sounds of it. Possibly massively oversold and then were still allowing people to queue to buy tickets on the day. Hours after they had reached capacity and were only letting people in as others left the people in these lines were not being informed about this or anything else by any kind of staff. What information they got was mostly just other attendees on the way out.
Inside it doesnt seem to have been much better. I'm just reading the showmasters forum as I had been thinking about going and the crowds inside keep being referred to in close to Hillsborough levels of danger.
Stan Lee did about 400 autographs on Saturday, apparently only about 50 virtual ticket holders got to him but they had people with Virtual tickets numbers 600+. Why, why do that to people. Just say all the slots are full and let people get on with the event.
I still want to go in October as the Transformers people should be relatively quiet compared to Stan Lee or Carrie Fisher, still its making me think carefully about how I go about doing it.

I want to know which day the panel is on. £8 to get in after 11 or £15 after 9.

I doubt the October one will be as bad, mainly because it won't be "Stan Lee's final European appearance" and the amount of people disappointed with this one who won't bother with the next. As for poor management, does anyone remember the store Offworld?

Not rebranded as such, different companies, but Jason Joiner who ran Offworld is the director of Showmasters.

A quick trawl of the TMUK chat archive reveals they ran some TF events in the early 2000s that a lot of people weren't happy with.
