As it's Technobot Tuesday I thought we should look at the possibility of redoing Computron. We saw this upthread. Digibashed Technobots Afterburner Ideally a nice new mould but you could possibly get away with a Groove repaint/recolour or even a Stunticon repaint if pushed. Nosecone has to be done new. So distinctive. And having a drill tank opens possibilities up..... Strafe possibly could reuse an Aerialbot Lightspeed the least distinctive Technobot. A red Stunticon repaint will almost certainly do. Scattershot probably does need to be a new mould unless we've got a Megatron Tank combiner core in which case you could maybe repurpose that with a new barrel as a mobile cannon/telescope.

The main things I want to see corrected on a G1 style Omega Supreme toy
Original toy being made up off the following. A rocket which splits in 2 to form both arms, but the rocket is mainly shown has being the biggest part of the toy. A track that goes round the rocket base which becomes the legs & rear shield. Then the small tank that goes round that forms the whole of the upper body - so you have to imagine that this grows in size about 5 times to get bigger than the rocket.
1. keep the scale of the rocket to the upper body. How to solve this - have the track also forming part of the upper body or have more than one tank unit on the tracks. 2. Have hands inside the top rockets so that the gun can slide away & be Megatron like same with the claw arm. 3. Maybe have the rocket forming the legs - this altering point 2.

So the newly announced CW Quicksling & Brakeneck plus the expected Autobot Stunticon repaint set has got me thinking.... Brakedown: www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Breakdown_V_1406238984.jpgwww.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Breakdown_R_1406238984.jpgPaint it red & black, slap a new head, and a sloping down chest on him and you've got Sideswipe. The chest is almost the right shape as it is. Job done. I'd like a new gun for him as Universe 2 didn't get that right but.... You NEED Sideswipe to go with Sunstreaker. And if you've got Sideswipe Red Alert is easy. As is G2 Sideswipe. And the robot mode would work for RID Prowl. I'd be astonished not to see Sideswipe somehow and I think he'd make a great exclusive fifth Autobot car limb. Air Raid www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Airraid_R_1406240954.jpgwww.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Airraid_V_1406240954.jpgReally Air Raid is the Decepticon Jet waiting to happen. The Jet mode is all but spot on. The robot mode isn't precise, but has enough echoes of the traditional Decepticon Jet body to work: the chest sides are there, albeit without air intakes prominantly protruding from the top, and while the cockpit chest center has gone there is something in the middle invoking it. In grey, with a Starscream head and it'd sell like hot cakes. Repeat ad nauseum with the usual suspects Streetwise www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Streetwise-Patrol-Car-1_1423964121.jpgwww.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Streetwise-Patrol-Car-2_1423964121.jpgwww.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/attach/4/0/5/9/7/Streetwise-Robot_1423964121.jpgWe've not seen Prowl yet, which I'm guessing is Streetwise but with the blue and red swapped for black, a new head, a new chest and hopefully a new gun. This has the usual Fairlady Z possibilities: Bluestreak, Smokescreen and, given how good the Legion version was, Alternators Smokescreen.

I'm liking it, CJ, liking it all, baby. Sunstreaker does need a Sideswipe. And AirRaid repainted at the Decepticon jets has me all a quiver. If only there was a Megatron core for them to combine with.....

Air Raid repainted as the original jets is an interesting thought - it'd be the first time they'd been Navy Jets, they've usually hewed firmly to their loyalty to the airforce. I'm in no hurry to see them again - given how often we've had them recently - but if we must have them then at least making them Tomcats is a bit of a departure from the norm.

The Airraid mold from TFC's Uranus was designed to be reused for the seekers.

Yeah, Nick and I commented on that when we were recording an abortive youtube review. But then, as an F-15 I would have been surprised if they hadn't considered getting hinky versions of the Diaclone-type Jets from it.

Hmmm, lets turn think a bit further about the Diaclone Car Autobots. I think we can get quite close with our admitedly limited repertoire of combining car modes. In all cases assume new heads hand guns and, with Dead end and Breakdown, new chestplates
Jazz: Dead End probably. Sideswipe: Breakdown Mirage: IS Dragstrip Hound: Off Road in green Ratchet: First Aid. New head obviously Bluestreak: Since Prowl is Streetwise he'd need to be Dead End
Sunstreaker: IS Breakdown Wheeljack: Tricky. He needs to be one of the cars. Breakdown is closer than Deadend but there's already a white Breakdown. Trailbreaker: Off Road in black. Prowl: IS Streetwide Ironhide: IS Off Road/First Aid
Skids: another tricky one. Really not sure. A blue First Aid? Tracks: Possibly a Blue Dead End. Inferno: Hotspot Grapple: Hotspot Remould Red Alert: Breakdown Smokescreen: Dead End. But if you're doing Tracks as a blue Dead End the decio is really going to have to sing Hoist: Off Road. Preferably with added on towing gear.

I'm with ya there, buddy. Shockwave demands a good 'Classics' outing. Missing Classics Upgrades have been occupying my mind recently. The most important characters I can think that haven't had a classics version are Shockwave Omega Supreme Blaster Scorponok All of these have had updates elesewhere. So 2 questions: Which G1 characters have had upgrades elsewhere and not had a proper Classics/Generations version? Which significant G1 characters haven't had any new versions?

Post by Toph on Jun 3, 2015 21:12:26 GMT
I'm inclined to call Botcon/Club updates as classics and not "elsewhere." So while I would welcome a new generations update of Scorponok, I'm completely content with Botcon scorp as a true classics, unlike Shockwave, who's never been given the classics treatment.
Bludgeon- RotF Bludgeon was a purposeful backdoor classics, but yeah. Seaspray- same Laserbeak and Buzzsaw- got the MP treatment and those would work as classics, but gottdang, who can afford them? Also, laserbeak in DotM Steeljaw- DotM, AND NuRID. Beachcomber Hubcap Grimlock Slag/Slug Swoop Snarl Sludge- all movie updates Skylynx- got a bh predacon homage Scourge (Cybertron)- you can't tell me BH Predaking doesn't take all his cues from Scourge. Black and purple dragon that lords over beasts, his toy gimmick turns him into THREE headed dragon. Cryotek- an homage in the form of a Predaking repaint Jetstorm- Animated Thunderclash- a BH cyberverse homage prime repaint RiD Megatron- a BH cybverse homage predaking repaint Ironfist/Fisitron- FoC Topspin- FoC Twintwist- FoC Impactor- FoC RiD Rollbar- TF Adventure Greejeeber Repugnus- Universe 1.0 fuzor
There are more, but this is only just a little work.
some who've had NO updates of note. -Reflector -Trypticon -Fort Max -Omnibots -Autobot targetmasters -Decepticon headmasters -Doublecross -Grotusque -Most pretenders -Highbrow -Needlenose -Quake

My word would I love proper new figures for Omega Supreme and Shockwave. With Omega though you have to wonder now where he'd fit. He isn't big enough to need a Titan, and that wouldn't happen, but he doesn't fit in as a Leader with all his extra bits either.

Not posting this in the main combiner wars thread due to this being toy suggestion & not news on toy releases - so not to confuse people.
But what would be the most unexpected toy repaints team - think more along Botcon lines where they throw in a total random character & most of us say that doesn't work.
But which Transformers line would be the most unexpected? I'm thinking Japan line Masterforce/Victory. Starsabre or Starsaber (so Hasbro can get double repaint from the toy with having one metal paint) from Silverbolt - then the Motorvators set from Stunticons - do Japan names then UK names.

Spychangers Maximals Blentrons Mayhem Attack Squad DJD Headmasters Build Team repaint of that gargantuan Devastator.
To be honest, I think we're gonna see a ton of left field repaints before we see any of the beast decepticons combiners.

I'm not sure that's the case. A Lio Convoy/Silverbolt/Cheetor/other Maximals would be an obvious Predaking repaint.

So how did I do with the Combiner Wars Wave 6/2016 Wave 2 Autobots when I made my predictions? Didn't know about the new Swindle when I wrote that Wheeljack: Tricky. He needs to be one of the cars. Breakdown is closer than Deadend but there's already a white Breakdown. Of course Breakdown is off white/cream. Wheeljack is bright white and remoulded. Trailbreaker: Off Road in black. Bang on. Smokescreen: Dead End. But if you're doing Tracks as a blue Dead End the decio is really going to have to sing Close. Streetwise.

What we have left to do from the 18 Diaclone Autobots: Inferno: Hotspot repaint. New head. Grapple: Hotspot retool. Both the Combiner cores. From the initial UK wave of Mirage, Hound, Bluestreak, Jazz, Sideswipe & Ratchet we have just the first two. Bluestreak would be Streetwise to match the other two Fairlady Z's, Jazz Dead End in white, Sideswipe Breakdown in Red and Ratchet First Aid with a new head and different paint apps The second set of 5 is Prowl, Ironhide, Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker and Wheeljack. They've ALL been done now. The 1985 set is Inferno, Grapple, Smokescreen, Red Alert, Hoist, Tracks, Skids. Smokescreen's been done and we want Inferno and Grapple for our Voyagers. Red Alert would be Breakdown and Hoist Off Road. Tracks is maybe a Wheeljack repaint, maybe a Deadend. Skids could be Off Road or First Aid. Bluestreak | Streetwise | Jazz | Dead End | Sideswipe | Breakdown | Ratchet | First Aid | Red Alert | Breakdown | Hoist | Off Road | Tracks | Wheeljack/Dead End | Skids | Off Road/First Aid |
The only possible wild card here is Dragstrip. There's no Drgstrip remould yet.....

So how did I do with the Combiner Wars Wave 6/2016 Wave 2 Autobots I was closer with the predictions I made a day after yours than I thought! Once I'd started to try and work a pattern into the mould use I had: Blastoff = Firefly retool (right mould) Vortex = Alpha Bravo retool (right mould) Brawl = Rook retool (wrong!) Trailbreaker = Offroad repaint (right!) Wheeljack = Breakdown retool (right!) Smokescreen = Streetwise repaint (right!) Then I said - "That leaves Swindle and the mystery fourth in the second oldies set to place. If there is a fourth. So either those two are coming from Dragstrip & Air Raid, or there's a new mould which will do Swindle & my proposal of Hound. Either of those configurations also means the same basic mould isn't used twice in the same wave."Got it right that Hound would be the fourth and he'd come from Swindle, just not that Rook would be the base mould for them. I'm quite chuffed with that! Perhaps there was some method in the madness.
