In other news, it appears from New York Comic Con that Cosmos has killed a line again! The scamp. Toyfair you mean? It wouldn't be surprising... there's a whole load of end of line stuff that's not been listed anywhere outside Asia and it's felt like something of this nature has been in the works for a while. See www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/974851-transformers-toys-cancelled.html for the rumour and list. On the other hand I don't think it's been officially confirmed yet and there's plenty of deluxe product for Generations that has been announced. I'll miss Skrapnel and Tailgate :-( <lovingly strokes his imported Swerve & Cosmos>

Skybyte leaves me luke warm. I hated that cybershark was cast in a horrible pose and that largely ruined the toy for me. Here it's even worse. And his chest looks like its modeled on his god awful IDW appearance, which screws up the colorscheme, as well as gives him unneeded sharkboobs. However it does get rid of the sharkhead butt kibble, and the rest is absolutely modeled on the real skybyte. Will reserve judgement until if the toy actually gets released.
Jhiaxus, had he been given proper colors does the job way better than i thought that mold could.
Nothing else warrants an opinion from me.

You keep not including Gears in that list and freaked me out, so glad to see it on display too.
So generations will be getting my money. Skybyte looks ace, but having only got CR skybyte last year I will have to compare before buying.
Roadbuster looks exactly like I hoped. A little disappointed Jetfire seems to have more kibble than I had hoped but still getting. Swerve Gear Tailgate too. Nobody seems to have pictures of Nightbeat but everyone is now saying it is IDW Bumblebee not Jazz, which is odd because those little pictures did appear to have Jhiaxus correct, but in the wrong colours.

Also TFWs pics are crap, hundreds of the buggers and they dont seem to have whole body shot of half of the Generations line up.

You keep not including Gears in that list and freaked me out, so glad to see it on display too. For the simple reason that Gears and Acid Storm were unconfirmed till today: We'd seen packaged shots of Tailgate & Shrapnel and Swerve & Cosmos.... well they're on my desk here :-)

Having looked at the deluxe toys syphoned from the computers redcently (see here) I decided to have a peak at the Legends Then A6685 THNDRCRCKR & VENIN - an Obvious Starscream repaint A6686 BRAWN & MUDSLINGER - Brawn's number reappears bellow A7804 NEMESIS PRIME & SPINISTER - another obvious repaint with BB's Legend repainted A7804 GNAW & GNASH - same number as above. A7805 CLIFFJUMPER/A6686 CLIFFJUMPER - obvious BB repaint/same number as brawn A7805 GEARS & EAGLE EYE/A6686 GEARS & AUTOBOT EQUINOX - Obvious Swerve repaint/same numbers as above Thundercracker becomes Acid Storm, an obvious swap. Gears' partner is called Equinox So from that list you can see what else *might* be coming later.

The sites are reporting Roadbuster is a Springer repaint, but the photos make it look like a new mould to me. I'm definitely on for that, Jetfire and the Legends. Not sure about anything else. The deluxe Generations really seem to have peaked, and the movie figures, ugh.

I think the big giant Grimlock looks quite fun. I don't want one myself, but I reckon he'll be a big hit with kids if the price isn't mad. $80 in the US so he should be about £60, which means he'll actually be around £75. The Generations stuff looks superb. All of it. Every single figure- not a loser in the bunch. Even Jhiaxus has a good head sculpt even if the colours are mental. I really like Sky-byte's pose since it's how I imagine him when he's sounding off in mid-air in RiD Actually, I reckon there's something to like about all the lines. I think 2014's going to be a great year for TFdom! Expensive and with periodic quality control issues, but great! -Nick

After looking at better photos I'm liking Skybyte more.
Jhixaus is actually looking great for an Armada Starscream remould. Hes got his Batwings and everything. Colours rubbish, but its easier to repaint a great mould than modify a crap mould thats in the right colours.

Jhiaxus actually doesn't look too bad. Sky Byte just looks off in a way I can't quite articulate! Roadbuster looks fabulous!

Yes Roadbuster looks like a winner! Swerve mold as Gears looks nice! Nice Generations figures generally. Avoided looking at the Movie figs, but what I fleetingly saw of them left me uninterested.

I'm loving Roadbuster, like him more than the 3P Warbot version, even if his lower legs might look a bit skinny. Great weapons. Must get a Whirl now. Imagine voyager Roadbuster and Whirl side by side! When I was a kid, a friend gave me an America Transformers toy catelog sheet, which had Roadbuster, Whirl, Devastator, Delux Insecticons etc on it. I'd marvel at these forbidden Transformers toys! Very nostalgic.
Hasbro are doing very well in the Generations line.

Nightbeat feels like a missed opportunity. I despise them using idw bee as his base, because it doesnt work on a variety of levels. Mostly the alt mode, and the fact its a terrible toy. But they ignored the only strength using that mold offers... The fake hoodchest. As they made a new head, they could have easily made a new chest piece that looked more like Nightbeat.
But i wish they didn't do him at all. Because a halfassed repaint now absolutely kills any chance at getting a better version down the line for several years, if another, better qualified mold pops up.
Also, still not feeling skybyte. Still don't like the sculpted pose. Actually, it's worse than the original toy's prepose. That was based on anatomy, and the way sharks actually move. No white can move like this Windrazor's looking a lot better than all her IDW art. Still wish they didnt do the geisha look. Also not thrilled with the legs so poorly integrated into the back of the jet, but props for originality, instead of having them hang on the underside as usual. Maybe takara will give us jhiaxus' real deco? They've been better at G2 the last several years than hasbro has, it seems. Otherwise, really pleased. Funny thing, I'd be all over the RiD deco if it were Jetstorm and not Starscream, and the mold wasn't attempting to be the proper Jhiaxus.

Why they were in UK toys I've no idea, but the fact it showed these unobtainable American toys gave them such mystique. Whirl and Roadbuster are right in there with others like Blaster and Trypticon. They still have that Holy Grail vibe for me because of that.

Jhiaxus looks better in the plastic than I was expecting - the fighter mode still doesn't feel quite right to me but the humanoid mode carries it off really well.
The Sky-byte I am a bit "meh" about, but given that I have an RiD one to go out and a Botcon one that I am keeping it may just be that I already have as much Sky-byte as I need. The Roadbuster, as I have said elsewhere, is astoundingly true to my mental image of Roadbuster. Really nice bit of kit.

I have a feeling that a Cybershark repaint of Skybyte will absolutely rock. Despite being the exact same mold, skybyte's appearance became iconic due to Car Robots. Cybershark however isn't nearly as iconic, and deviations from the original won't be nearly as jarring.

Honestly, the fact that they've made it a remold that looks like Jhaxius rather than a repaint annoys me more. Why those colours? Those are the colours for a cute redeco of Jhiaxus. Is there really anyone who wanted the RiD colours over the G2 ones?

I'm not sure to be honest. Given that in wider fandom there is not necessarily the same love for the Marvel comic as we have here, and that those who really recollect G2 are a smaller sub-set. I don't know, I think a lot of folk would probably want the colour scheme from the hard-to-find RiD scheme over a scheme from a comic they don't really recollect - and may not have read.
Me, personally, I would have prefered something closer to the G2 look but I didn't really expect to receive that.

I suspect rather more of fandom than you think would not recognise the G2 colours for Jhiaxus. Remember, the proportion of Transformers fans who read the Marvel comic is lower than you might think, and the number of those who read G2 is a once again smaller sub-set. I suspect there are a lot of folks whose immediate thought of Jhiaxus would be of the IDW version, followed by remembering he had a hard-to-find toy back in RiD. Based on my own experience I'd say that the G2 version would come a long way down many peoples recognition tree. Not everyone, but a sizeable chunk of the fandom I suspect. Karl I always thought IDW Jhiaxus was the same colours, but no, he's is more orangey, isn't he? Still nothing like that toy though! Like the Wreckers toys, it seems like they are releasing the less desirable colour scheme first to make people buy the exciting new mold, with the 'correct' paint scheme to come later. Not that we've seen a purple Impactor yet.

I got my original Topspin from the Toymaster in the Barras market in Glasgow- they bought a lot of grey imports and this Topspin came with a German/Dutch 1985 catalogue. Astrotrain and Blitzwing were in Diaclone colours, the Deluxe Insecticons were there, and Roadbuster, Whirl and Jetfire stood loud and proud in a boxout on the Autobot side. Roadbuster and Whirl looked incredible (even moreso when they appeared in Target:2006 a few months later!) and Jetfire was just... mind-melting. To see the three of them in a new display now made me quite emotional. It having been a bit of a shit week might not have helped my emotional state. -Nick

I find Roadbuster a little..... obvious. I don't really mean that in a bad way, but Springer has somewhat raised the bar on voyagers for me. The way the rear wheels tuck in to the legs and those little panels flip around to partially hide the wheels on the arms. I suppose both were part of the transformation, but if the budget for Springer allowed for that sort of thing I would have liked to seen it in other voyagers too. Roadbuster has wheels that seem to just sit there.
Also the legs almost seem like an after thought.
Man it sounds like I hate it. I don't, I really don't, but Whirl and Rhinox and Springer/Sandstorm just seem better. Having said that it does feel like it's really Roadbuster without being a slavish copy. So yay!
I'm not to worried about Nightbeat, a new mould chest would have been better, but just making more of it yellow would have been enough. As it is it's not bad, but the reason I'm not worried is that last 2 years we got repaint Springer, Roadbuster and Whirl and since then we have got all new Springer, Roadbuster and Whirl. A repaint Nightbeat, Jhiaxus or whoever doesn't rule out better versions following quickly.

Technically, springer is a really simple design, that requires only a little bit of fiddling between all three modes, that largely keeps the same shape. So it seems they could budget more moving parts to cover little unimportant things in robot mode. Roadbuster, the three seconds i bothered to look, looks like he's a more involved transformation, that requires more steps to actually achieve his alt mode. On top of that he's got more accessories, which takes budget away from the main toy, as well.
I understand the complaints, but I feel that maybe they're not taking in the picture as a whole, at the same time.
But of course, it's a toy I'd never ask to exist, as I have no investment in the character or the original toy, and also feel roadbuster is the worst colorscheme in the thirty year franchise. So I really have no horses in this race, so I fully admit I probably don't understand it. (But I am trying to look at it from the same frame of mind as my dinobot thing)
