I'm going to regret buying a bunch of original Sky-bytes for Toy-fu, aren't I? Somehow managed to forget the new version was coming out when I ordered them.

Have there been anymore pictures of generations Nightbeat? I'm impatient :-)

Hmm, oddly cool on this, and Sky-Bye is one of my favourite characters. Not sure what about it I don't like. I guess it helps how nicely the original is deco'ed

Arcee's Midrift and upper legs look worse everytime I see them. They look like they belong on a substantially bigger robot!

Black doesn't look as good as pink would, but it looks better than leaving it white. That just looks like she remembered to put on her belt but forgot her pants.

I dunno, I think she looks pretty good. It's just a shame she's missing a Daniel Headmaster companion...
(It's not.)

I'm not a huge fan of that Arcee to be honest. I don't think it is as good as the Animated Arcee, which I rather liked. (One of the reasons it was almost the last Animated toy to leave my house. Fear not, she has gone to a far, far better place than she has ever known). This version feels a little too much like she is carrying most of her car-mode on her back like a sandwich-board. It just isn't a design that does anything for me I'm afraid.
I have however, warmed a little to the Jetfire. I'm not sure about the size - I quite like the height of the Classics version and I think this one may be a little bit too much bigger, but I quite like some aspects of the design. What kind of turns me off is the shiny chrome on the FAST parts, which just looks a little bit tacky to my eyes, and the design laziness of just shoving the cockpit section over the back because they couldn't figure out what to do with it in humanoid mode. We've learnt a lot since the early eighties and it does feel somewhat retrograde in that regard. In the end there are a collection of little flaws in it which make me feel that it isn't really doing much that the Classics version didn't do for me, and given the price-tag and my limited storage space this is one fighter-TF I am going to let go I think. (Besides, the Defense Budget is taking the real beating from Austerity - I'm still trying to make the case to myself for the remaining spares I need for customisation of a LEGO mecha at the moment.)

I know the initial publicity shots we saw of this wave were heavily photoshopped, but these ones make these toys look awful.
Is there a reason why Nightbeat looks nothing like the comic version? Is that the one that initially was said to be using the RTS Jazz mould but is now the IDW BB?
Yeah. okay, answered my own question with a bit of googling.

<Sergeant Fraser>She's got big, strong thighs</Sergeant Fraser>
It's probably to help offset the weight/size of the backpack. Thin legs with that up top would only serve to exaggerate the size of it even more.
With that figure I'd be sorely tempted to sacrifice the alt mode and try and remove the back kibble.

Yeah I'm thinking similar thoughts, theres a good toy under there somewhere. The display photos from Botcon show her in more dynamic poses which I liked the look of, so it might be just how shes packaged. I do think in some of the photos the hips/legs have not been pushed together far enough which doesnt help.

I think all of these would look significantly better packaged in vehicle. Arcee especially, since her vehicle is a really cool looking fantasy car.

Not bad at all. Would be fascinating to see how he compares to the 3P Brainstorms we've had.

Yeah, I do like the look of him. But I probably won't ever get around to getting him. Just like I didn't with Springer. I suck.

Standby for more compare and contrast reviews. We'll have Hasbro's Brainstorm facing of against both Fansproject and Toyworld's pretenders (not a proper noun); Takara's Roadbuster against Fansproject's Revolver Core; MP Bumblebee against Toyworld's mighty Bii; Hasbro's Arcee against not one, not two, but three third party efforts (iGear, Perfect Effect and MMC)! Exciting times ahead!

I do hope that Brainstorm in the pictures is a production figure, the blue looks so much better than the one in the packshot we had recently. Still tempted by Sunstorm. I wonder if Hasbro have kept anything back for this - will we know the format for the combiners tonight do you think? see the Superion they hinted at at Botcon? I'm dying to know if the leaders really are going to be voyagers.
