There's going to be more leaders in 2015 so Scorponok's a possibility.
I'd like Skullcruncher too, always been a favourite. But doesn't seem to be elsewhere. Ditto Highbrow. But I'd lay money on Highbrow turning up as a Botcon/TFCC exclusive next year from Sandstorm.
But Chromedome will almost certainly be next Headmaster to get the full treatment. He's got present day fan support in MTMTE. He's got Japanese fans from his lead role in Headmasters. Obvious choice to my mind.

I like, but as Takara seem to be doing one without black parts I think I'll get the closer to cartoon accurate version. After all these years I dont mind paying a bit more for the version I wanted all this time.

Agreed. Takara for me. I might get a Hasbro one if it proves her turtle shell is fixed in such a way that it can be removed without wrecking the rest of the figure. Just for a more streamlined one.

I'll be honest and say that I'm not really a fan of the new Arcee, it doesn't appeal to me as much as the Animated one (which was one of the two last Animated toys in my house, until the recent wave of Reaving). I'm not sure I like this one enough to pick it up - the way it is wearing a large chunk of it's car mode on its back tends to let the look of it down. I may change my mind in the unlikely event of seeing one in the plastic, but I'm not particularly moved by it at the mo.

Looks like the reviewer has had some bad experiences with third party figures. The only figure I've had to do serious work to was Genesis because one arm had the wrong sized piece in the joint and it broke the ratchet.
Still, lets hope Arcana's flash problems are irregular rather than a line-wide issue like poor Skids' misassembled hips.
It's the parents I feel for. They buy a toy for their kid and then have to sit down with the thing in front of a website with a bunch of tools (and glue, and possibly clear nail varnish) before said kid can play with it properly.

TBH Brainstorm's neck had been worrying me. They've implemented it exactly how I thought they might and it sounds a recipe for disaster. I'd have lost the articulation on both robots to get a more stable connection.

Yeah, I much prefer the way that PE provided neck articulation for Guardian/Warden - which was to have the socket into which the Headmaster robot attaches rotates. Which makes perfect sense. I do wonder why they didn't do that here.
I think I'll wait for a few more reports on this figure before splashing out. Which, you know, is a shame, because Lost Light and all...

Based on a few reviews, it sounds like the problem might be slightly iffy design exacerbated by the increasingly poor QC we've been seeing. In which case it might be worth paying the extra and waiting for the Takara release if you have to import anyway, as their QC is usually much better.

So depressing to hear of QC issues with Brainstorm. Might cancel my pre-order and wait --a long time.
I just got Generations Skids - and his legs are fine (correct assembly)
It almost seems like they release the first run with QC which they fix with the next release.
The LAST thing I want is a breaking Brainstorm :-(

I just need TFsource to receive Arcee, Chromia and Brainstorm and I can have my hefty mound of Hasbro products shipped. They're all due out this month so I might see them this side of Christmas! Woo!
Of course, Brainstorm could be a case of "nice promo pictures, shame about the toy" but we'll see in a few weeks!

Yeah, I didn't have the heart to say no to Brainstorm... Besides, I'll be getting Swerve with him...(err..and Flanker...I guess).
Combiners are coming out that soon? No pre-orders I can see...but I don't keep up too regular like...

Moved from The Combiner Wars Thread: I understand that the concept of combiners involves compromises in engineering, and what can be achieved within a budget has lessened in recent years, but these designs look really lacklustre to me. Is this the main point where we see the impact of the Hasbro design team change, or did that come sooner? I don't pay close enough attention these days, but some of the earlier Generations releases (Springer and Sandstorm especially) look like a whole class apart from more recent reveals. That said, the AoE Dinobots are largely great Having owned every Generations toy put out by Hasbro this year I have to say it's been a pretty poor year. These look like they are going to be decent toys that are fun to play with. They feel rightlooking at the pictures and the Optimus toy brings something new to the table for the character. I think I have almost everything too and have found it to be a great year. Rhinox is probably as close to Masterpiece quality as any Beast Wars character gets. Waspy and Rattrap great too. Scoop is a little bland but still a rock solid toy. Armada Starscream is one of my favourite deluxes in a long time. Swerve and Skrapnel, cosmos, Skybyte etc. Compare that lot to last year. We got Gen Bumblebee and the first wave of scout sized toy and the buggered up Blitzwing, FOC Grimlock. Yes we got Springer and Sandstorm, but I dont think they were representative of the year. Heck this year they even managed to make the Bumblebee good when they released Nightbeat. I don't know who designed what, but as a guide Botcon last year the new design team were in place. I don't know how long for but from memory I got the impression that they had worked on at least some of the nearer to production toys. Rhinox was finished and on display, but a lot of this years stuff was only shown as designs or mock ups. |

I think it's all good at the moment. So the Generations toys now don't appear to be as good as the Classics era stuff, but we know there are economies to consider. We're on an upward curve again though if you look at the numbers - we have already had as many Generations toys announced for 2015 as there were in 2010/11 combined, and given that total is 18 so far - many of which will be out before the end of this year even - 2014's total of 31 looks like it'll be broken easily. Generations seems to be snowballing in popularity.

The New Legends have been fab.
Yoyu're right the Voyagers have been good too
But every deluxe I've touched this year has been fragile or doesn't transform right or has had some fault. Very down on this year's deluxe toys.

Generations recently have been a bit hit and miss for me, but granted I haven't bought many toys. But add the toys I've bought to the toys I've studied relentlessly on the intersnatch, I think I can safely say I'm generally pleased. They seem to be trying. Genuinely trying, even when they don't get it right, like Blitzwing's shoulders. And the combiners, well again, they may not be perfect, but they're giving it a shot, so good on 'em for that.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're having a go at proper combiners again, but I'm just not feeling it for the individual toys from the pics so far. Silverbolt in particular looks poor.
I believe Rhinox is old design team as Archer was reported as dropping heavy hints about him, and while I haven't picked one up he does look amazing (but seriously, those unpainted weapons...). Whirl and Roadbuster haven't done it for me, and neither really has Sky Byte. Scoop is fun, and very solid. Armada Starscream is pretty decent in the Takara colours but the Hasbro release just looks cheap to me and some of the joints feel a bit weak. Also a shame they couldn't stretch to include a Mini-Con. Rattrap looks like he could be good; I like the look of Brainstorm but early reports are not encouraging.
I saw quite a few Nightbeats, Chromias, et al in hand at the LFCC, and the paint jobs on both just made them look cheap, especially Nightbeat with his greenish yellow. Unimpressed.
Maybe it's just me and my tastes as a fan changing (especially with a more limited budget than ever), but these just aren't screaming "buy me" the way they might have done a few years ago.
