Hoist looks better than Trailbreaker! When are these dudes out?

The Megatron/Trailbreaker/BB/Orion Pax wave is due July. BBTS has sold through on it's individual Trailcutter pre order: if you want one you'll have to buy a set or a case. Laughably the BB from the same case is reduced to sub $10 already and I for one ain't saying no to a sub £7 deluxe with a comic. Hoist & Thundercracker are assumed to be in the next wave so August at the earliest. Hoist isn't doing it for me. I think it needs more orange towing gear on the back. The Full Spectrum Multi-Sensor sitting there in vehicle mode just looks wrong too. Still prefer the Movie redeco as a modern Hoist.

I like both, but always hold out to see what takara do, especially as their generations line seems big on paint apps and shininess again this year.

Thundercracker should not exist, I do not want to own another horrible mold just because it's Thundercracker.
Hoist however, is my first really good look at that mold. And I have to say I'm much more pleased with it than anything they've given us between Prime and Generations to date. It doesn't look as good as Gen 1.0, or Universe 2.0, and it's definately not as intricate... but dispite it's obvious simplicity, it's solid looking, and does not look like it cheats at all. Trailbreaker and Hoist interest me not. I'll still get them, but I'm more interested in the repaint possibilities. It looks like it was made with a third character in mind, too. Gears. Truck mode looks dead on for an update for Gears. Robot mode really doesn't look like either Trail or Hoist... so why not gears, too?
But I'm more interested in these: Trailcutter with Hoist's head= PERFECT choice for X-Brawn Hoist with Trail's head= make a pretty durn good RiD Towline.

Thundercracker should not exist, I do not want to own another horrible mold just because it's Thundercracker. WHAT? The FOC Jet mould is FABULOUS. Upsized Cyberjet, two very nice weapons which combine into a bigger weapon, lightpiping, a concealed feature in both modes. LOVE. Tempted to buy Thundercracker and try to get Takara Skywarp. I'm convinced we'll see it again in *next* years Botcon set as a Western Skywarp along with a FOC Sunstorm, FOC Scourge w Magnus Sword in clear plastic, FOC white Magnus & FOC Sunstreaker.

It is not. It's barily more complex than an original pretender. Plus, ugly ass sculpting, terrible design, and even worse proportions. It looks absolutely NOTHING like the character it represents, and even further more, it's like making spiderman have hulk's proportions because some dumbass artist who has no concept of how to design working transformers thought "It's so much more kickass to have Spiderman be bigger than a body builder!" This is one of the worst toys hasbro has ever shat out and slapped a "transformer" name on it. It's very existance infuriates me in a way that has not happened sense I threw away $15 bucks on Leobreaker. Even worse is that this cost the same, and it's barily more than a scout. Ooo, I hope so! A botcon toy line up that god awful and I can not have even the slightest bit of regret missing any of it.

Hang on. How can these toys be branded 30th anniversary? It's not 2014! -Ralph Because next year is a movie year, and as we all know Hasbro kills all competing toylines during movie years. The 25th anniversary only got ONE WAVE, before they killed Universe and Animated for RotF. So if they don't do the 30th anniversary this year, then they won't do it at all.

Just having a look at the Sandstorm pictures. I think I like that better than I do than Springer to be honest - the choice to make him a ducted-fan design instead of a conventional helicopter makes him feel more "Cybertronian"/"Furturistic" than Springer does, and I quite like the dragsterish look of the ground-vehicle mode.

That doesn't look too bad at all. I quite like the bomber mode - definitely channelling the B2 Spirit, and probably the closest they've come to capturing just how disturbingly thin in profile those things look in real life - and the face sculpt is really nice. Not sure about the enormous gun, although it wouldn't be the first Dreadwing to tote an unfeasibly large cannon around.

I finally got around to looking at the Botcon pictures.
Those that caught my eye - in a positive way - are: Swerve Cosmos Skids Doubledealer (an unexpected character to receive attention) Dreadwing (again, unexpected) Bludgeon Rhinox (nice to see him get a decent figure - and doesn't he look lean? He must have been working out.)
And the negative: Protoform X. A nice idea to give him a toy, but a better mould would have been nice. To be fair, the mould does suit him, it's just not much of a mould. Transmutate. No. A unique, memorable character who's rather diminished by having a "proper" version. Can someone please explain Caramac Soundwave to me?
