Thats a good point about the weapons. Not sure I'm convinced its any more complex than Springer, it just seems to fold up more.
The more I look at it I think it mostly those feet, they are just kind of flat and generic. Roadbuster should have feet like the new Jefire in my mind.

I have to have that Roadbuster to stand alongside the Whirl I also have to have. And this is for pretty much the same reason that my favourite news out of Toyfair is Death's Head.

Roadbuster look good - but they should have put him & Whirl together. Jetfire having 2 cockpits is a clear use. Stinkblade looks rubbish. Mashup - wasn't expecting to see Springer. But animated Bulkhead makes a return. G1 style Prime cab - but the Movie footage we see is white not red, so are we getting 2 releases or did they paint the cab?

I'm not looking too closely at these, for film spoilers' sake (even though I expect I'll have them in stock before the film hits anyway, hey-ho) but there are some nice Generations jumping out. Also, I notice Construct-Bots in foil bags rather than boxes, a la Lego Hero Factory.

Oh, I hadn't noticed that. Seems a shame, I really liked those reusable boxes!
Not that the bags aren't sort-of reusable, but it's not the same...

It greatly reduces packaging weight, resource requirements and transportation costs. More toy line should do it!

As long as packaging is recyclable, I'm not fussed whether toys come in boxes or bags.

However the packaging needs to be enough to protect the toy from damage/parts theft prior to opening.

What about Generations IDW Dinobots toys? They do seem overlooked some of the characters being used in Dark Cybertron.
Every body else is out in a Generations toy [apart from Prowl, Nova Prime, Galvatron, Magnus, Getaway]
We've got Swerve, Skids, Crosscut, Starscream, Ratrap, Dreadwing, Metroplex, Whirl, Tankor, Scoop, Cosmos, Bumblebee/Goldfire, Skywarp & Thundercracker.

That's cos It's more like the comics were created to sell the toys. In fact the Dark Cybertron comics (and the issues leading up to it) are used as pack ins for many of the toys you've listed: tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_Generations#Deluxe_Class_2Wave 7 #007 Dreadwing (retool of #003 Megatron) with Robots in Disguise #17 #008 Waspinator with Robots in Disguise #19 #009 Autobot Skids with More than Meets the Eye #22 #010 Goldfire (retool of #004 Bumblebee) with Robots in Disguise #18 Wave 8 #011 Armada Starscream (new sculpt) with Dark Cybertron #1 #012 Skywarp (redeco of Series 01 Starscream) with Robots in Disguise #23 #013 Mini-Con Assault Team (Heavytread, Runway and Windshear; merge to form Centuritron) with More than Meets the Eye #24 #014 Autobot Scoop with Holepunch and Caliburst and with More than Meets the Eye #23 Wave 9 Rattrap with Robots in Disguise #24 Crosscut (retool of #009 Skids) with Robots in Disguise #25 Tankor with More than Meets the Eye #25 Wave 10 Nightbeat (retool of #004 Bumblebee) Jhiaxus (retool of #011 Armada Starscream) Windblade Wave 11 Arcee Chromia

But yeah, Dinobots please. Maybe next year, on the back of their being Movie Dinobots this year, might be a good time to do them.

Ooooh yes, good point Big Phil after their movie stint is a good time to do some decent Generations Dinos!

I think before the movie would have been both better, and more likely. Much like before the first movie they made sure to refresh bumblebee and starscream, with Bumblebee having lapsed into complete obscurity, much like the dinobots have. Post movie, i fear there may be dinosaur fatigue from both hasbro and casual fans, with hasbro taking the "but we just did a years worth of multiple dinobots" line.
I hope for the best, but this is how i fear it'll play out.

Wave 7 #007 Dreadwing (retool of #003 Megatron) with Robots in Disguise #17 #008 Waspinator with Robots in Disguise #19 #009 Autobot Skids with More than Meets the Eye #22 #010 Goldfire (retool of #004 Bumblebee) with Robots in Disguise #18 Odd wave this one, it never really seemed like it arrived properly - yet I take it this is now history? Same with the Rhinox voyager? I was getting into the idea of waiting a few months and picking up Generations figures cheap on amazon.com but I've suddenly realised that this doesn't always happen. Hoist & Thundercracker for less than $10 was great, but I'm now thinking do I bite the bullet on Whirl at $35 - or will he get cheaper before the restocks stop? surely some of these will turn up in other case assortments later on? And I suppose Hasbro UK did promise us some of them...

It got a decent US retail distribution before Christmas but various online stores - both EE and BBTS - got shorted on it. Of that wave Dreadwing and Goldfire are recolours/remoulds, Skids later appears as Crosscut and Waspinator is reshipped in the Tankor/Rattrap/Crosscut wave alongside Scoop.
Skids is a loss: popular character and a G1 classics update.
I chased the wave at BBTS and as soon as it was obvious they weren't coming secured them on eBay

No, that wave got shorted here, all around. And here's why: it's a waistland after christmas. It takes about march before stores start restocking toys, and at least around me they *just* started restocking. Most stores skipped that wave entirely, and the one that didn't, only got ONE case. I actually had to go through the TCC for Waspinator. We're one the starscream wave now.
The Rhinox/Doubledealer wave came and went and no one got it. Still hoping the Rhinox/Whirl wave fairs better, but my hopes aren't high.

That's the point: the wave hit before christmas and gobbled up by christmas shoppers: gone.
There's enough sightings on TFW to say it got a decent retail distribution. It's just stock moves so much quicker at that time of year.

I disagree. No one in my network, local or otherwise, or friends networks had much, if any luck with that wave. It did not get a "decent" distribution. They may have managed to saturate a couple different areas, but otherwise nothing.

Actually the 2005 thread, when i finally found the general spot where that wave is pretty much backs me. Bunch of people not able to find them, very rare and scattered turn ups. And none of those in my area. Rarely within an hour's drive. I don't call that a decent distribution.

It's a big country. Perhaps some areas got better distribution than others.

It does seem odd though that Hasbro doesn't compensate for this. If there's a demand, why not release more of the product. Looking at that wave though I think on reflection I'd only want Skids and Waspinator, so if Waspinator is getting a reissue in upcoming assortments I'm not fussed, and I will take a chance on Takara doing a better paint job on Skids, if they do one (surely they won't ignore a whole mould?).
I've just coincidentally been having a fiddle with my G1 Skids and he is a pretty neat figure, very different transformation to the other early cars. Lots of guns for that era too, which is something the people moaning about how many the new one has seem to have forgotten. The lighter blue on the new one is off putting though. Surely Takara will sort that out.

I'd go for a Takara darker blue Skids and I've got the Hasbro version!

G1 Skids always had lots of firepower, as Pinwig says. It's in his techspecs. I seized on that- and in my universe Skids, despite his pacifist beliefs, invented his own weaponry, to best defend the weak and innocent!
So, in short, YES a darker blue version, if you please.

I got my rhinox and whirl in from BBTS today, and Rhinox is AMAZING.
His sculpting is amazing. In robot, he looks like he stepped off screen. In beast, he is second only to U. Cheetor for best looking beast mode. He really looks like a rhino. Even down to the accurate posture of his legs.
Color choices are fantastic. The matte colors of the rhino gives it a realistic feel, but what doesn't photograph is the green plastic. It has an odd metallic shimmer that shines and contrasts amazingly with the organic color of the flesh. The gold paint also has a nice metallic quality to it.
Everyone's biggest complaint are the guns, right. Not as big an issue as everyone bitches about. Turns out, they don't photograph well. In person, the unpainted parts really aren't terribly distracting. Sure, a couple extra dabs would have been nice, but it's not worth shelling out takara prices for, that comes with an extremely inaccurate Rhinox. Or worth sacrificing other more important paint details for.
Rhinox and waspinator are the figures to beat IMO, for best figure this year.

Rhinox and waspinator are the figures to beat IMO, for best figure this year. Waspinator is very good. The only reservation I have about Rhinox is the ammount of rubbery plastic which can't be good for the toy's long term durability.

It's really only his butt that's worrisome. The rest of the soft plastic is too thick to be flexible.
